What Am I Training For?

Just in case you were wondering, I am currently training for TWO races. I am doing the Gulf Coast Half Marathon on the Louisiana Northshore on October 9th. Then about a month later on November 5th, I am doing the Rock 'n' Roll Savannah Half Marathon. I am super excited about both of these races! Should be lots of fun!!!

LSD=Fabulous!!!!

Long slow distance (LSD) run...why did I forget this in the past? It is SOOO not about how fast you are running but that you are out there covering those miles!!! Slow and steady this morning...and it was amazing!!! I had sooo much fun running this morning! We talked, we laughed, and we sang...all the while running down the road with a beautiful sunrise appearing before our eyes!! And yes I think some of the other girls thought we were crazy...but we were having a blast!!! With about 1 mile left to go, some of the other girls in our group had already turned around and were coming back. We threw our hands up in the air and started singing the "Rocky" theme song as they ran past us. Lol! Before when I was worried about my speed I would not have had the breath or the energy to do that at the end of a long run. Anyway, I know you want my stats. I ran 8 miles in 1:31:02 at an average pace of 11:22. And you know what? I am super fine with that pace for a long run! Because I had a blast running at that pace instead of being miserable the whole time. I am so blessed to run with such a great group of ladies! Paige and Marcella...thank you so much for running with me today! Felt awesome to get such a great run in!!!

Back to Blogging!!!

Well, March was the last time I updated this blog! Yikes!!! I've had several races and another half marathon since then. There's no way I can catch up so I am just going to start from here. I really miss blogging and am looking forward to getting back into it! I've had many ups and downs in my running since my last post. This summer has been TOUGH on my training. I've had what I think was tendonitis in my feet and an IT Band issue in my hip. With some rest and Trigger Point Therapy I seem to have gotten the injuries under control. I also was running pretty fast (for me anyway) and have started to slow down some. I think the increased pace was some of the cause of my injuries. I've experienced some burn out...and have even started taking some walk breaks during my long runs to help change it up some. I think I got so concerned with how fast I was going that I forgot the reasons I love to run! Slowing down some has helped me find that love again. Who cares how fast I am? I am out there running (something A LOT of people don't ever attempt) and have a great group of ladies to run with! Hopefully, I am back on the road to success with my running!!!

Anyway, glad to be back! I will be back tomorrow to blog all about my 8 mile run tomorrow morning!
