Back to School!

You guys will have to forgive me as I am not going to be posting about my workouts or runs today.  Today...you will have to listen to me talk about my children.  I hope that's ok!

As most of you know...yesterday was the first day of school around here.  My Hayden is in the second grade and Sawyer is in Kindergarten.  I'm totally ok with Hayden (he's been in school for two years already) but dealing with my baby going to Kindergarten has been super tough for me.  Sawyer is my Momma's boy and we've always shared that special bond.  So it is hard for me to see him so big and grown up.  When he came out of his room yesterday morning dressed in the school uniform I almost lost it!  My baby is no longer a baby!  :-(

Here's our first day of school photo session that I always make my kids endure!  Several of you have asked about the signs (if you saw the pics on Facebook or Instagram) and they are a Pinterest find of course! ;-)

And of course I had to get individual shots too! :-)

The boys were both super excited about their first day of school!  They were a little nervous...but excited!  We got to school (after finally making it through the horrendous traffic) and saw my friend Stephanie and her two little girls Sydney and Zoë. Zoë is in Sawyer's class and we couldn't be happier about that!  All 4 of them are best friends!  So of course we had to take a few pics in front of the school before we headed inside.

Once we got inside, we had to part ways with Hayden.  Parents are only allowed to walk Kindergartners in...and only on the first day.  So I said a goodbye to Hayden and he headed to his destination with no hesitancy at all.  I knew he was going to have a great first day!

Sawyer and I headed to his classroom...I took a quick picture of him outside his classroom door!

And his teacher Mrs. Bagley wanted to take a picture of him and me before we came into the classroom!

Luckily, Mrs. Bagley asked me and Stephanie at the Parent Meeting night if we could stay about an hour on the first day of school to help her get the kids situated.  Well of course I will!  It was awesome because I was able to be with Sawyer a little longer and see him react to his teacher and new friends.  The kids were all so cute and it really made me miss teaching!

My big boy doing his work on the first day of school!

We stayed at the school for about an hour and then left.  Stephanie had a fun day planned for me....she didn't let me go home because she knew I would be a crying fit if I went home.  She took me to breakfast at Cracker Barrel, we went birthday shopping for Sawyer, and then went back to her house to watch The Hunger Games.  Thanks so much Stephanie for making this day so great for me and full of wonderful distractions!!!  :-)

I am proud to say that I got through the day with no tears shed....and so did the boys!  I couldn't wait to pick them up from school and hear all about their first day!  Hayden had a great day as I expected!  And Sawyer did too....although he was super tired when I picked him up!  They both had fun things to say about their teachers!  Hayden said his teacher told them that she would "freak out" if they missed school so they had to be there everyday.  He said, "Mom what if I am sick and can't go to school?  I don't want her to freak out!" Lol!  And Sawyer discovered a new phrase that Mrs. Bagley says "all the day long" (his words lol).  He said one child started crying and she said, "Heavens no you can't start crying!"  He said "heavens no" about a million times yesterday after school!  He told me that is what we were going to say from now on!  Lol!

I'm so thankful both my boys had a great first day of school and I'm so blessed that they both seem to have great teachers!  I think it's going to be a great school year!!!

We survived the first day!!!!  :-)

QOTD: What do you remember most about your first days of school?  I just remember being extremely nervous because it was different and I didn't know entirely what to expect.
