Runner Spotlights #61

How's everyone's weekend going? Hopefully good! We had a fun family day yesterday. Today I am cheering on my friends as they run the Pensacola Half Marathon (since I can't be out there running with them).

It's time for another runner spotlight...my favorite time of the week! I love reading other runners' stories about their running journey! If you are interested in being spotlighted on my blog please email me at mindy@roadrunnergirl.com! I'd love to spotlight you! You don't have to have a blog to be spotlighted...you just have to be a runner! ;-)

Today I'm spotlighting Cori from Olive to Run! You MUST read her "about me" on her blog! It explains her blog name and a little more about her. She's also a teacher just like me so we have lots in common! Keep reading to learn more about her running journey!

Name: Cori (but I’m often referred to as Olive)
State: Born and raised in WI but currently in North Carolina.

When and why did you start running? In February 2009.

What is your favorite race and race distance? My favorite race was my first marathon, [which is also my favorite distance]- the Milwaukee Lakefront in 2010. The feeling I had when I crossed that finish line is indescribable.

What is your race day routine? I set everything out the night before, put my bib on, etc. so the morning of is a lot less stressful. On race day I typically wake up 2-3 hours before race start so I can shower, get dressed, eat breakfast, and reflect/pray while I let things in the belly settle ;)

What is your most favorite piece of running gear? A good pair of running shoes, to me is essential. I love Brooks’ Pure Line- specifically my Pure Flows and Pure Cadence models.

Do you follow any diet or take any specific supplements that complement your running? I do not follow anything in particular. I try to eat whole foods and practice moderation.

What do you wish you’d known when you first started running? To have patience and spend more time ENJOYING the run instead of being in full training mode every time I lace up my shoes.

What is your fondest running memory? My all time favorite running memories stem from times that my husband, Popeye and I are on vacation. We always take our running shoes and use it as an opportunity to explore the area. We've made many memories hitting the pavement.

What is one thing that most people do not know about you?
That I danced in high school. It still makes me laugh when I think about it… I have no balance :)

Here are all the different ways you can connect with Cori!

Thanks so much for sharing with us Cori!!!

QOTD: Did you race this weekend? I want to live vicariously through you lol!
