Fourth of July FUN!

We had a blast on July 4th! Every year we go to my best friend Rhonda's house to celebrate! We usually play games all day, cook out, and then go watch the fireworks. This year was a little different because Rhonda just got a pool put in! So instead of games we spent the day swimming! We had so much fun! Here's pictures of our fun day celebrating America's birthday!!!

No holiday is complete without family pictures!

Me and Rhonda!

The Kids!

Swimming Time!

Eating Time! We had hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and dip, baked beans, and fresh corn on the cob. And for dessert....4th of July cheesecake!

Later that night it was time for fireworks! Yes my Sawyer had his fingers in his ears for a reason. He hates the loud noise the fireworks make! It scares him every year! So his remedy is to watch them with his fingers in his ears lol!

My silly Hayden photobombed me and Andy's picture lol!

As you can see from the pictures...we had a great day celebrating our freedom! God Bless the USA!

QOTD: What did you do on July 4th? Any traditions?

Celebration of Stars and Stripes With a Healthy Treat!

Happy Independence Day!!! I hope everyone has an awesome day with awesome friends and family! Oh yeah...and BBQ and Fireworks too! We are spending the holiday with my friend Rhonda...a 4th of July tradition! We will be eating good food, playing games, watching the kids play, and enjoying being together in our land of the free! We will end it with fireworks of course!

As you celebrate be sure to remember how blessed we are to live in a country where we have freedom!

Yesterday the boys and I made 4th of July Fruit Kabobs to take to our celebration at Rhonda's. I wanted a healthy treat and since I'm craving strawberries right now I thought these would be perfect! I found a picture of these on partycity.com. We decided to use marshmallows instead of bananas due to making them the day before. We didn't want the bananas to turn brown. The boys and I had a blast making these! And...they may or may not have eaten a few pieces of fruit (and a marshmallow or two) while assembling! ;-)

Ingredients:
Skewer Sticks
Blueberries
Strawberries
Marshmallows or Bananas

Directions:
Cut the strawberries in half. If you're using bananas, cut them into circles. Alternate each fruit to make an Amercian flag. Enjoy!

Very happy, helpful, hungry boys! :-)

Happy 4th of July from Road Runner Girl!!!

Another Mile!

Stats-
1 mile/9:26
Average pace- 9:22

Whew! My legs were tired this morning! The first half of the mile I was really doubting myself...how in the world did I run a marathon when half a mile is killing me? But after the halfway mark I started feeling a little less tired and picked up the speed. It's rained so hard the past two evenings so I got to see and hear the water rushing through the ditches. Kinda sounded like I was running next to a river...nice!

Speaking of rain...our backyard has had it's own river running through it during all that rain!  Luckily, it drys up pretty quick.  But that's how we know we are getting a lot of rain!

Yesterday I got to eat lunch with some of my Sole2Soul Sisters!  We met at a cute little place called "Spot of Tea" in downtown.  I had been here once before but it was about 9 years ago!  I remembered it being good but couldn't remember much else.  The place has a lot of history...really cool to see.  We sat in their "Carriageway Dining Area."  They named it this because it used to be a stable for carriages in the 1800's.  On the lunch menu they offer sandwiches, soups, and salads.  I got the soup and salad combo...a regular garden salad which had nice leafy greens (no iceberg lettuce), tomatoes, croutons, mushrooms, and onions (which I took off).  The soup I got was the seafood bisque, which apparently they are known for.  You have to pay extra for it but it was so worth it!  It was sooo good!  I wanted to lick my bowl lol!  Next time I will probably just order that as my entree!  It was great having a relaxing meal with friends!  Hopefully we can do it again soon!

Running With Friends & Hatfields and McCoys

Stats- 3 miles/29:47
Average pace- 9:55

Day 3 of #RWRunStreak is done!!! What a great run! I wasn't expecting a lot out of this run because my legs are sore from the squats I did yesterday. Plus, two of my friends were meeting me to run and they are faster than me. I warned them I wouldn't be able to keep up...but guess what? I kept up!!! I'm very proud! And my legs didn't hurt as bad as I thought they were going to and they weren't as heavy as they felt yesterday. Maybe I CAN do this run streak thing! :-)

On another note...is anyone watching the new mini-series the "Hatfields and McCoys" on The History Channel?

I'm usually not interested in "western" type stuff but my hubby had to watch it!  I didn't pay much attention to it the first night.  But last night he told me I had to watch it with him.  He caught me up on the story (which I have the first night recorded on my DVR so I can go back and watch it) and I started watching with him.  Let me tell you I am hooked!  And a little shocked that it's a true story!  Wow!  So much violence!

QOTD:  What do you think of the show "Hatfields and McCoys?"
