Designer Whey Sustained Energy Review

Disclaimer: I received this product free to review through a FitFluential campaign. I received no other compensation. All opinions in the above post are mine and mine alone!

You all know I love me some Designer Whey! So I was sooo excited when this wonderful box of goodies arrived on my doorstep!

Yes Designer Whey has a new protein blend...Designer Whey Sustained Energy!

Designer Whey® Sustained Energy™ is specifically formulated with our proprietary Endurance Blend™. Designed to give you balanced, stimulant-free, sustained energy through fast absorbing whey protein and slower absorbing soy and casein proteins, giving you a steady supply of essential amino acids while helping you control hunger with fiber.  Packed with 16 grams of protein, 5 grams of fiber and 19 Essential Vitamins & Minerals and naturally flavored and sweetened – all for only 100-good-for-you calories!

Designer Whey says some of the key causes of low energy are stress, high sugar diet, dehydration, lack of sleep, and meal skipping. I know as a runner and busy mom I don't have time for low energy! I need all the energy I can get! Designer Whey's Sustained Energy is perfect for giving me the energy I need!

This protein powder is made with Soy...something I'm not used to. I don't do Soy products that often. So I was curious about how it would taste.

The first time I tried the Chocolate Velvet flavor was after a long run. I was tired from not only running but because I hadn't slept well the night before. I mixed the powder with fat free milk. The texture was a little grainy but the taste was great!

I tasted the Vanilla Bean flavor one morning in one of my smoothies. I had some blueberries on hand that I needed to use so I added them in my smoothie with the Vanilla Bean protein powder.

Blue-Vanilla Protein Smoothie
Ingredients:
1 cup fat free milk or almond milk
1 cup blueberries
1 scoop Designer Whey Sustained Energy Vanilla Bean Protein Powder
1 handful of ice

Mix all the ingredients in the blender. Pour into a glass and ENJOY!!! So yummy!

So what do I think about Designer Whey Sustained Energy? It blends well (although the texture is a little grainy) and it tastes great! I love that it gave me energy and kept me full!

And yes Designer Whey sent me the SHAPE magazine (Hey Brit!) and bookmarked the pages where they were featured! There was a cute ad and also a recipe using pineapple, cinnamon, bananas, and the Vanilla Bean Sustained Energy powder in a smoothie. I can't wait to try that recipe!

QOTD: Do you have some kind of protein after your runs/workouts? Do you have protein in the middle of the day when you need some energy?

Designer Whey Goodness!

I found a new love in the world of protein! Designer Whey! I've been stalking them on Twitter, Facebook,  and Instagram for a few months and was so excited when this box of goodies arrived on my doorstep!

I could not wait to try all the products! Designer Whey offers protein powders, protein shakes, protein bars, protein 2GO, a protein powder called Aria that is designed for women, and weight control protein powder. They sent me powder, shakes, bars, and protein 2GO.

As a runner protein is important. I mainly use it after a run to help with muscle recovery. But protein is also good in general for giving your body the amino acids it needs to keep your immune system healthy and in muscle repair and growth. So I am always on the look out for a good protein shake for after my runs.

Designer Whey Protein Shakes
I loved these because they were ready to drink. I could carry them anywhere and they didn't have to be refrigerated or made. These are perfect to keep in your checked race bag so you can drink it for recovery as soon as you cross the finish line. I tried the Gourmet Chocolate and the French Vanilla. They were so good! They were super smooth and it didn't seem like I was drinking something healthy for me! The awesome thing...they have 18 grams of protein and are only 100 calories!!!

Designer Whey Protein 2GO
These ready to go packets are great for sprucing up your plain water! And the vitamins are an extra plus! With only 50 calories and 10 grams of protein it's perfect for that afternoon pick me up! I took a packet of this on days I was teaching to help me get through the day feeling refreshed and energized! The lemonade was my favorite flavor! Just add it to your water bottle and shake!

Or you can be like me and add it to a pretty cup! ;-)

Designer Whey Protein Bars
I'm not much of a protein bar person so I assumed I wouldn't like these. I was so wrong! These were delicious!!! They didn't leave that aftertaste in my mouth like most bars do. And I felt like I was eating a candy bar! They come in three flavors: Peanut Butter Crunch, Triple Chocolate Crunch, and Chocolate Caramel Crunch (my favorite)! They have 10 grams of protein and are 170 calories or less! I love the calorie count...most bars I've tried have a ton more calories in them.

Designer Whey Protein Powder
I am always worried about powders. A lot of the ones I've tried are gritty. And I can't get them to blend well. That was not the case with Designer Whey powders. There was no grit and it blended so smoothly! These come in several flavors...I tried the White Chocolate and French Vanilla. One scoop is only 100 calories and has 18 grams of protein in it! You can mix this with water, milk, almond milk, or juice. I am a milk girl so I mixed mine with fat free milk.

The White Chocolate and fat free milk was delicious! It tasted like a milkshake! And it blended really easily in my blender bottle. I just shook it and it was ready! Easy!

The French Vanilla and fat free milk was just as yummy. I also made a smoothie with it that was super good!

Banilla Chia Protein Smoothie

Ingredients:
1 cup fat free milk
1 banana
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 scoop Designer Whey French Vanilla Protein Powder
I handful of ice

Mix all the ingredients together in the blender. Then pour it into a glass and ENJOY!

Overall...I LOVED Designer Whey! I will definitely be buying the protein powder and ready to go shakes!

QOTD: Have you ever tried Designer Whey? What's your favorite protein shake?

Premier Protein Review and Giveaway!

As some of you know, I have been on the search for the perfect post run recovery drink. I love my chocolate milk but feel like I need a little more after those long marathon training runs. So when Premier Protein contacted me on twitter to see if I wanted some samples I didn't hesitate!

And when those samples came it was like Christmas!

It was wrapped up so pretty!!!

Inside was little bars and shakes of deliciousness!

Now I'm not saying they gave me tiny samples that were barely a serving. They gave me the full size! Full size bars and full size shakes! Wow! And they didn't just give me one of everything...they gave me TWO of everything!!! How great is that?!

Here's what was included in my box:
  • 6 Premier Protein Bars: 2 bars in each flavor (Chocolate Peanut Butter, Double Chocolate Crunch, and Yogurt Peanut Butter Crunch)
  • 4 Premier Protein Shakes: 2 shakes in each flavor (Chocolate and Vanilla)
I'm not a huge fan of protein bars but these were actually pretty good! The calories were kind of high in my opinion until I looked at all the nutritional info. 30 GRAMS OF PROTEIN??? Whoa!!! I figured these would be a great pre-run option before a long run.

Here's the lowdown on each bar and what I thought. The Chocolate Peanut Butter was yummy! Kind of like a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup but so much healthier for you! These were my hubby's favorite of all the bars!

Next is the Double Chocolate Crunch. I swear this one tasted just like a brownie...so good! My friend Stephanie even tasted this one and loved it!

And this one was my all time favorite of the bars...Yogurt Peanut Butter Crunch! Of course it was also the highest in calories and fat...could be why I liked it so much lol! I didn't share my second one with anyone...I ate both of them!!! :-)

Look at all that yummy deliciousness!!!

Next up were the shakes. I of course saved these until after my long runs as a recovery drink. Keep in mind that all the protein shakes I've tried in the past I haven't liked. They either tasted bad or were too gritty. I am big on taste and texture. If it doesn't taste good then I'm not going to drink or eat it. If I don't like the texture...same thing. So I was pretty curious and skeptical about these shakes.

The first shake I tried was the Vanilla one. Here's the nutritional info:

Again...I love that there are 30 grams of protein! And I always need more sodium after a long run and this baby has 330mg! And the best part...there's only 1g of sugar!!! Yay!!!

As for the taste and texture....it was awesome!!! I loved it! It tasted like a vanilla milkshake!!! So good!

The chocolate was just as good as the vanilla one!!! I think I have found a winner folks!!! :-)

One of my favorite facts about Premier Protein: You can buy it in stores!!! I hate it when I find a product I like but it's only available online...because sometimes I just need to run to the store real quick to stock up! Premier Protein is sold in Costco and Sam's Club! I have also seen the Premier Protein bars in Walmart.

The Premier Protein shakes are definitely going to be my recovery shake for marathon training! I even bought a box of the chocolate ones from Sam's Club to stock up!

On a funny note...these samples were all so good that me and my hubby fought over who got to eat/drink them!!! :-)

So here's the good news!!! Premier Protein wants to give YOU a box of samples exactly like what I received! And even better.....they are letting me giveaway FIVE!!!! Open to US residents only.

Enter away! Please make sure to be honest and follow all the requirements to enter...I DO moderate the entries and WILL remove your entry if you don't do what's required (sorry I have to say this but I've had some abuse of this in my past giveaways).

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Good luck everyone! I can't WAIT for you to try these awesome Premier Protein products!!!
