Friday night Hayden got to play his trumpet with the high school band at the football game! He had so much fun!!! And we had a great time at the game as well! And our high school won!!!!

Saturday morning I slept in some! Yay! Then I ran my run for my run streak. And then it was time to head to Louisiana for my race!

I had a great race! I PRed by just a few seconds but I will take it!!!! I can't wait to tell you all about it!!!

Fitness Friday...October 14th Edition!

Happy Friday y'all! I can't believe the weekend is almost here! It took forever to arrive lol!

It's half marathon weekend!!!! Yay!!!!

This week was busy as all weeks seem to be. Monday night I had dinner with people from work to celebrate one of the teacher's graduation! Of course my co-workers made a little fun of me because I came to dinner in workout clothes! I came straight from the gym! I can't help it that BodyPump gets out at 5:30 and they wanted to eat at 5:45 lol!

Wednesday we had a field trip at school. I took my preschoolers to the local farmer's market! We got to pick out a pumpkin for our class, look at all the fresh fruit and vegetables, and they got to take home a mini pumpkin of their own! It was so fun! And....look at the sign they had for sale! I wanted it soooo bad! Luckily, I have very talented family members who are going to make something similar for me! Yay!

I've also become a little addicted to Lularoe! I bought two pair of Halloween leggings this week (to add to the 5 pairs of leggings I already have)! And one of the consultants gifted me a second pair!!! So sweet! If you guys haven't tried these leggings you are missing out! They are the softest leggings I've ever seen!

I'm hoping for cool weather because I'm totally rocking this outfit to trick or treat with my boys on Halloween!!!

Now it's time for Fitness Friday! I had a great week of runs this week! We had some cooler weather but it's already starting to warm up again. Boo! I also got in my 2 strength training sessions this week!!! I did BodyPump both times! But one time my hubby came with me! Yay! And the instructor gave us a taste of BodyCombat that will be coming to our gym in January! It was so fun! I was a huge Taebo fan back in the day so it was right up my alley!!!!

  • Friday- 2.6 mile run in 21:05 average pace 8:03
  • Sunday- 3.1 mile run in 24:42 average pace 7:55
  • Monday- 2.6 mile run in 20:56 average pace 7:58, Strength training: BodyPump

  • Tuesday- 2.6 mile run in 21:08 average pace 8:04
  • Wednesday- 2.6 mile run in 21:02 average pace 8:00, Strength training: BodyPump and BodyCombat

  • Thursday- 2.6 mile run in 20:53 average pace 7:56

It was a great week of runs and workouts!!! I'm so thankful to finally be getting into a routine for strength training. I've found that going to BodyPump works better for me than trying to do it on my own in the gym. I need someone to tell me what to do and BodyPump does just that!

This weekend is my half marathon!!!! I'm super excited! This will be my 6th year running this race! It's one of my favorites! I don't have a goal other than to finish with a smile on my face and enjoy the journey!

I hope you all have a great weekend!!!

Gulf Coast Half Marathon Training Week 7!

Currently training for:
Gulf Coast Half Marathon SAVE 15% with the code RRGIRL
Senior Bowl Charity Run 10K
Battleship 12K SAVE 15% with the code RRGIRL

Big Beach Half Marathon
Rock 'n' Roll New Orleans Half Marathon SAVE $15 with the code ROADRUNNERGIRL16

This was my last long run before the Gulf Coast Half! And it was a taper run!

I had 6-8 miles on the schedule! The weather was pretty great! The temperature was in the 60's when I started running!

I got to see the sun rise as I ran! I always love that on long runs!

Around mile 2, I turned into the first neighborhood and was greeted with an even prettier sight from the sun!

I was feeling great on this run! I had a hill to conquer but it wasn't too bad.

I love that I have the option to run in the country not far from my house. It's always so peaceful!

Before I knew it I had reached mile 4 and the time to turn around and head home! The first half of the run had flown by!

I reached another neighborhood where I had some fun with some running selfies! These are a lot harder than they look y'all lol!

And then I was on the 4 lane highway. I always pray right here for my safety as well as for the all clear when I need to cross the road. My prayers worked because I didn't have to slow down at all when I needed to run across the road! No traffic!

I reached my last road...the one that would take me straight home!

I was having such a good run that I ran 8.5 miles instead of the required 8! ;-)

Slowing down some during this training has really helped. I'm not sure what that will mean come race day but I'm not racing for a PR. I'm just looking forward to the journey!

Be sure to follow me on Instagram for all my race fun this weekend!

The Weekly Chase #194!

Happy Monday y'all! Like always...the weekend went by way too fast around here!

I started my weekend off with some Starbucks since Friday was National Frappe Day! I even got one for the hubby since I'm such a good wife! ;-)

That afternoon I ran some errands including using Walmart's new grocery pick up service! I made my order on Thursday and then went and picked it up after work on Friday. Y'all! I LOVED this! Not having to go into the store made me so happy! They did a great job picking out my produce and meat. And they gave me a rose since it was my first time doing this! I will definitely be utilizing this from now on!

The hubby joined me in going to the bank. Archie came along too since he loves riding in the car! He was so funny because when we got to the bank there was a long line. He started whining and barking and we weren't sure why. But then I remembered that the last time he came to the bank with us he got a dog biscuit from the teller. That smart boy remembered and as soon as he got his biscuit he quit whining lol! Little stinker!

Friday night we went to a friends house for pizza and salad. Then all the ladies headed to the movies to see The Girl On a Train! I read the book and was looking forward to seeing the movie! It was really good!

Saturday I ran my last long run before my half marathon next weekend! I ran 8 miles! I'll tell you all about my run on Wednesday!

Andy and Hayden went on a canoe trip with the Boy Scouts so it was just me and Sawyer on Saturday. He had a birthday party at his gymnastics and had a blast!

That afternoon we took Archie to the dog park. We had it all to ourselves which was a good thing since Archie has gotten really protective of us and isn't getting along with other dogs...and some people. I think we are going to have to do some training classes with him because he saw my neighbor at the end of our walk and went ballistic barking at him. Nothing I did made him stop. It was really frustrating. The thing is...when someone knocks on our door he doesn't bark! He doesn't bark any other time really! He only barks when we are walking him and he sees another dog or person. We aren't sure how to teach him to stop doing this. Any suggestions?

He had fun at the dog park though. He apparently things the picnic tables are for him to stand on lol!

Sunday morning I slept in until almost 7:00! It was glorious! I hardly ever sleep in since I run every morning. I didn't run until around 7:45 but it was fine because the weather was so great! The temp was 59 degrees when I was running! I ran a 5K and felt great!

The rest of Sunday was spent doing laundry and getting ready for the new week. Ugh! It's never ending!

Now it's time for the Weekly Chase! It's a new week and I have new goals to achieve! I hope you will link up your own goals with me too! And feel free to use the badge below in your post too! You can grab the badge HERE! :-)

Fitness Friday...October 7th Edition!

Happy Friday y'all! This week seemed to take FOREVER!!! SO glad it's Friday!

I hope all of my Florida and East Coast friends are safe from Hurricane Matthew. I've experienced several pretty bad hurricanes in my lifetime and they truly are not something to mess around with. Stay safe!

In good news...my friend went to Atlanta last weekend and got me the Starbucks You Are Here mug from there!!!! Last time I was in Atlanta the mugs weren't out. I've been wanting one for awhile now!

Wednesday was walk to school day! My boys definitely wanted to participate! Their school always makes it a super fun walk! And I'm all for them getting their exercise! ;-)

Archie got a fun treat this week too! He LOVES peanut butter! I mean seriously LOVES it y'all! So much so that when he sees the jar he literally starts drooling rivers onto my floor! So whenever we are finished with a jar we always give it to him so he can lick out all the peanut butter that is left on the sides! He LOVES it! He wouldn't let me even get close to him to take this picture for fear that I was going to take away the jar lol!

Now it's time for Fitness Friday! I had a great week of runs! And I am so proud of myself because I finally made my goal to get in two strength training workouts this week!!!

  • Friday- 2.5 mile run in 20:28 average pace 8:08
  • Sunday- 2.6 mile run in 20:32 average pace 7:55
  • Monday- 2.6 mile run in 21:00 average pace 8:03, Strength training: BodyPump

  • Tuesday- 2.6 mile run in 21:21 average pace 8:09
  • Wednesday- 2.6 mile run in 21:05 average pace 8:04, Strength training: BodyPump

  • Thursday- 2.7 mile run in 21:29 average pace 8:06

It was a great week of runs and workouts!!! I had an awesome 12 mile long run for half marathon training! Now I'm officially in taper mode!!!

I'm also so proud I got in two strength training sessions! I did BodyPump twice this week and got sore both times! Yay! I just don't push myself enough when I go into the gym to do weights on my own. But doing BodyPump really pushes me! I love it!

This weekend I'm running a taper long run of 6-8 miles. Then next weekend....it's half marathon time! I'm so excited!!!

I hope you all have a great weekend!

QOTD: What was your best run or workout? Do you prefer to workout in the gym on your own or take classes?
