Fitness Friday August 22nd Edition!

Today is my Sawyer's 7th birthday!!! I can't believe my little man is already 7 years old!!! It seems like yesterday when he was born! Here are some pics of his last day as a 6 year old!

My mother-in-law called on Wednesday with a great surprise! She got us a condo at the beach this weekend for Sawyer's birthday! Remember when we went for Hayden's birthday? Sawyer was sad we wouldn't be going to the beach for the weekend for his birthday...but now we are!!! It will be a great way to unwind from the busy first week of school!

This week was BUSY! It was the first week of school! So far the boys are loving their teachers! They've come home with smiles on their faces each day! It was also the first week for me! I have a super sweet little pre-k class! It's going to be a great year!

Now it's time for Fitness Friday! It was a lot harder getting in my runs for my run streak this week since I've started back to work. I've gone from running first thing in the morning to running at night. I forgot how much hotter it is running at night in the summertime! But I love my sleep too much and don't want to wake up at 5AM every day to run. So night time and hot it is!

  • Friday- #plankaday 1:05, 2.05 mile run in 17:33 average pace 8:33

  • Saturday- 9 mile run in 1:33:14 average pace 10:20
  • Sunday- 2.05 mile run in 17:41 average pace 8:38
  • Monday- #plankaday 1:30, 3.11 mile run in 31:03 average pace 9:59

  • Tuesday- #plankaday 1:05, 2.05 mile run in 16:59 average pace 8:17

  • Wednesday- #plankaday 1:11, 2.05 mile run in 18:05 average pace 8:49

  • Thursday- #plankaday 1:10, 3.11 mile run in 27:29 average pace 8:50

Weight loss this week: 1.1 lbs.
Weight loss total: 29.8 lbs.

This week the running got a little harder. After a full day of teaching it is hard to come home and run on tired legs! And the heat and humidity make a big difference too! It is so very hot in the evenings here. But I got those runs in and kept the streak alive! I'm really thinking day 100 might be the end of streaking for me though. It's just super hard to run every day now that I've started back to work.

The weight loss is going great! I'm almost to my goal weight! And this next week I'm pretty sure I will reach 30 pounds lost! Wow!!! My DietBet also ended this week! I ended up losing 7.3 pounds during the DietBet (I had to lose 5.1 lbs to reach the 4% goal to win)! So yeah...I won!!! Yay! The DietBet was so much fun and even though I don't need to lose another 4% I'm still hoping to host another one soon. I had fun encouraging everyone along! :-)

Tomorrow I will be running my long run at the beach! The plan is to run 5 or 6 miles. Last time I ran at the beach it was super hot. I have a feeling this time will be hotter. :-( The Gulf Coast is under a heat advisory right now. It's way too hot! And to make matters worse...there is a system out there that they think may enter the gulf and become a hurricane headed our way. :-( Hopefully not...but with the extreme heat the water gets hot and that's breeding ground to make a hurricane stronger. So send some prayers our way please!

EDIT: They are now predicting the system to turn and NOT enter the Gulf! Yay! But please pray for those that may be affected by this storm!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

QOTD: What was your best workout or run this week? Is is super hot where you live?

The Weekly Chase #85!

It's the first day of school! I can't believe I know have a 2nd grader and 4th grader! My boys are growing way too fast y'all! It's sad! They both were super excited to meet their teachers and see their classrooms last Friday! Their teachers seem awesome so I'm hoping it's going to be a great school year for them!

It's also MY first day at preschool! I'm excited about my new class! The kids all seem really sweet and of course they are super cute! I'm hoping for a great year too!

I love how my classroom door turned out! In case you missed it check out my post on my classroom decorations!

Now it's time for another Weekly Chase! I'm ready to tell you all about my goals for this week! I hope you will link up your own goals with me too! And feel free to use the badge below in your post too! You can grab the badge HERE! :-)

Road Runner Girl

Here are my goals from last week!

  • Goal #1: Run every day! Yes! My streak is still going strong! Yay! I reached day 80 this week! Wow!
  • Goal #2: Roll, stretch, ice daily. I didn't do too well with this this week. I was so busy going back to work that I didn't make the time for it. :-(
  • Goal #3: Log and stay under all my calories this week. Yes! I even did good at work when everyone else was ordering yummy Chinese food...I ordered something healthy off the diet menu!
  • Goal #4: Finish the last minute details of my classroom. All done!!! :-)
  • Goal #5: Complete my parent letter, monthly calendar, and class schedule for Parent Night. Yes! I got everything completed in time for Parent Night!

Here are the goals I'm chasing this week!

Goal #1: Run every day! This is going to be more challenging this week since my summer break is over. I've been running in the mornings but I'm going to have to run at night now. I'm going to make it to day 100 though! And then we will see if I want to keep streaking.

Goal #2: Roll, stretch, ice daily. I've got to do better with this one this week!

Goal #3: Log and stay under all my calories this week. I'm almost at my goal weight! Pretty soon I will be changing my goal to maintain my weight instead of lose. My DietBet ended today too...I can't wait to see who all won! I had a blast hosting the DietBet and want to host another one soon!

Goal #4: Endure the first week of school! As a teacher, I don't really like the first day of school lol! I like my students knowing the routines! The first week is always challenging. But I'll get through it! And I hope my boys have a great first week too...please no homework yet teachers! ;-)

Since this week is going to be so busy adapting to our new routine I'm going to stop there with my goals. Please be patient with me this week if I don't get to blog everyday. I promise I'll get back to my regular blogging schedule soon!

Good luck with your goals this week!

A Peek Into My Pre-K Classroom!

I had so much fun decorating my classroom last week! I thought I would show you what I have done so far! I still have last minute touches like adding my student's names to everything. I kept last year's theme...OWLS! I love my owl stuff!

Here are the before pictures of my classroom!

And here are the after pictures!

We decorated our hallway in a pirate theme. So the front of my door has an owl with a pirate hat on! I haven't added the words yet but the front of the owl will say, "A'hoy, whooo's going to have a great year?"

And here's our hallway!

See the hidden Mickey??!!

Our pirate ship!

Our treasure map!

I'm looking forward to an exciting school year!!!

QOTD: Do you like the owl theme or pirate theme the best?

The Weekly Chase #84!

Well it is Monday...and I am back at work! I have teacher meetings all week. And then my students start next Monday! Although I am sad my summer break is already over, I am looking forward to the new school year! This past week was spent getting my classroom all ready and decorated! I had lots of help from my boys! :-)

This weekend I got to see my sweet little niece Ella Bella! We went for one of our regular walks down by the bay. We tried to get her to smile but she was more interested in watching cars go by or watching my crazy boys and their antics than taking pictures with Aunt Mindy! Smile or not I LOVE all her cute expressions!

We also had a beautiful sunset Friday night!

But I guess a beautiful sunset means crazy thunderstorms the next day? Yeah the start to Saturday morning's long run was quite eventful! I can't wait to tell you all about it when I recap my long run this week! But at the end of the run...it was all sunshine!

Saturday afternoon me and the boys went with one of my teacher friends and her kids to another teacher store! And yes I found some super duper cute owl things that I just had to have!

Sunday we went to church. Afterwards we ate lunch at what used to be my favorite Seafood restaurant (because they have the BEST fried catfish and french fries and hushpuppies). I chose wisely though...and got the grilled fish and green beans. I will admit that I DID eat one hushpuppy though. I couldn't resist. ;-)

Sunday afternoon we went to the outlet mall and bought some school uniforms for the boys...and some school clothes for me! :-) I love shopping for new, SMALLER, clothes now! :-)

Then we dropped off the boys at my in-laws for the week. :-( Since I'm back at work and they aren't in school yet, they are spending time with their grandparents. I know they will have fun! I'm going to miss them so much! But I'm also looking forward to at least one date night with the hubby while they're gone! :-)

Yep! The #RRGRunStreak is still going strong!!!
  • Goal #2: Roll, stretch, ice daily. Yes! And guess what? My hip doesn't hurt at all anymore! :-)
  • Goal #3: Log and stay under all my calories this week. Yes! But we did eat out a lot this week which I don't want to do this week.
  • Goal #4: Clean and decorate my classroom. Yes! I only have the last minute touches of adding my student's names to everything. I will get my class list today! :-)

Here are my goals for this week!

Goal #1: Run every day! I want to keep the streak alive even though I'm back at work. I still have a goal to make it to day 100...and then see if I want to keep going from there.

Goal #2: Roll, stretch, ice daily. Gotta keep this up to stay injury free during my streak and half marathon training!

Goal #3: Log and stay under all my calories this week. This week I hope to not eat out as much. Even though I make healthy choices while eating out it is not the same as eating meals cooked at home. I also didn't do as well with eating all my fruits and veggies this week. Gotta make up for that this week.

Goal #4: Finish the last minute details of my classroom. Like I mentioned above, I still need to write names on everything. This has to be done before we have Parent Night on Tuesday night.

Goal #5: Complete my parent letter, monthly calendar, and class schedule for Parent Night. All of this has to be done to give to my parents on Tuesday night.

So that's my plan for the week. It's going to be a busy one! Not only do I have my own classroom stuff to work on....I also have to attend parent meetings and meet the teachers for MY two boys! Whew! I'm exhausted already lol! Good luck with your goals this week too!

The Weekly Chase #83!

What a fun weekend we had! My sister Amy came to town so I got to spend a lot of time with her and my sister Christy! All of our kids had a blast playing together! We went on walks, had dinner together, went to our favorite coffee shop, and went swimming at the pool!

I also got in an awesome 8 mile run with my Sole2Soul Sisters that I will be telling you about this week. And me and my boys went fishing for the first time ever!!! I'll tell you more about that tomorrow!

We also did a little school uniform shopping this weekend. It was tax free weekend so we took advantage. This year not only did the boys need new clothes for school but I did too since I've lost so much weight! Hey I'm not complaining! I love shopping for clothes now that they actually look good on me lol!

Yes! My #RRGRunStreak is still alive!
  • Goal #2: Roll, stretch, ice daily. Yes! And I think the ice has helped my hip tremendously!
  • Goal #3: Log and stay under all my calories this week. Yes! Although I DID indulge in a few fancy coffee drinks with my sisters this weekend. But...I had the calories for them!
  • Goal #4: Prepare for my TV interview. No. :-( This didn't happen unfortunately. It had to be canceled due to a major wreck that happened this week and took precedent over my story. Not sure if it will be rescheduled or not because the reporter hasn't answered my email. :-/

Here are my goals for this week!

Goal #1: Run every day! So many have asked me how long I'm going to continue to streak. School starts back in two weeks so I'm not sure how hard it will be to run every day yet. But I have a goal in mind to at least make it to 100 days. Then we will see. :-)

Goal #2: Roll, stretch, ice daily. All of this has helped my hip so much! It is barely tight anymore. Yay!

Goal #3: Log and stay under all my calories this week. Gotta keep this up. I'm almost to my goal weight! My DietBet has helped motivate me! :-)

Goal #4: Clean and decorate my classroom. It's that time of year again! I'm getting excited about the new school year and my new class! I'm sticking with my owl them...just got to get it all organized in the new classroom! :-)

So that's the plan for this week! I have a feeling I'm going to be pretty busy with the classroom decorations! Good luck with your goals this week too!
