#GoalGetter2013 Update: November

Ok seriously...where has this year gone? It's already December! I love this time of year but it came so fast! It's time for me to tell you all about my #GoalGetter2013 progress for last month.

As you know, I've been using #GoalGetter2013 and the Weekly Chase to help me stay accountable for my running resolutions and weekly goals. I will be doing an update each month to help me stay focused.

Here are my previous updates:
January Update
February Update
March Update
April Update
May Update
June Update
July Update
August Update

September Update

October Update

Now it's time for the month of November!

Injury Recovery: Yes! I've definitely focused on this this month! I've been going to see my sports chiropractor, Dr. Justin, two times a week. I've been icing, stretching, and rolling daily. I've been running only the mileage Dr. Justin allowed.

Stretch and Roll Daily: Oh yes! I've never stretched or rolled so much in my life!!!

Daily Bible Devotion: I haven't done as well with this this month. I'm still doing the She Reads Truth devotions but I missed it several days this month. I haven't missed reading a bible verse each day though so I'm proud of that!

Being Thankful: Yes! I've definitely tried my best to be thankful for my many blessings this month. I've had this knee injury and haven't been able to run as much as I'd like but I've tried to find the positive in that and be thankful that I can even run at all. Because there are some that can't. I've also made an effort to thank God for even the small things.

Per #GoalGetter2013 requirements, I posted the following picture on Instagram to show my goal progress for November!

For the month of December I am going to focus on slowly getting back into a running routine. I also want to continue recovering from my injury. And stretching and rolling daily will continue. I also want to keep reading my daily Bible devotions...and not skip a day! Lastly, I want to enjoy the Christmas season with my family.

I hope you are joining me for both the Weekly Chase and #GoalGetter2013!

Now it's time for the month of October!

Run 3 times a week: :-( I hate to say it but this goal did not go very well. As most of you know I am dealing with a hip and knee injury. So regular running just did not happen this month. I miss it so much! I did get to run one half marathon this month...but after that the knee has been injured. :-(

Stretch and roll daily: Yes! This has been vital in trying to heal from my injuries!

Daily Bible devotion: Most days. I'm still doing the She Reads Truth devotions but there have been days that I missed. I really want to get back into this routine because I believe it helps me so much.

Focus on the family: Yes! I think I've done great with this one this month! We've had many fun family outings including a camping trip and a fun run! I am so blessed with my sweet little family!

Per #GoalGetter2013 requirements, I posted the following picture on Instagram to show my goal progress for October!

For the month of November I am going to focus on injury recovery. I will run when I can. I also want to continue to stretch and roll daily. I also want to continue focusing on daily Bible devotions. August Update

Now for the month of September!

Run 3-4 times a week: I've done fairly well getting my runs in this last month. I had a setback with hip pain that caused me to take a week off from running but other than that I got most of my runs in!

Stretch and roll daily: Yes! I've done awesome with this one this last month! I even stretched and rolled twice on some days!

Daily Bible Devotion: Yes! I've been continuing the She Reads Truth Bible plans. Another thing that has helped with this is that every morning before my students arrive the teachers have a Bible devotion. I love reading the word with other women!

Spend quality time with my boys: I didn't get to do this as often as I'd like. I hate that life gets so busy! But the time I did spend with them was amazing! I love my boys!!!

Per #GoalGetter2013 requirements, I posted the following picture on Instagram to show my goal progress for September!

For the month of October I am going to continue to focus on running at least 3 times a week with the main focus on my long run. I also want to continue to stretch and roll daily. I also want to continue focusing on daily Bible devotions. This month I also want to focus on family. I would like for us to have many fun family activities this month. It's so important to spend that quality time together making memories.

I hope you are joining me for both the Weekly Chase and #GoalGetter2013!

#GoalGetter2013 Update: August

I know we are already two weeks in to September but I am just now checking in with my #GoalGetter2013 progress. It's been a busy few weeks but I didn't forget about my monthly goals.

As you know, I've been using #GoalGetter2013 and the Weekly Chase to help me stay accountable for my running resolutions and weekly goals. I will be doing an update each month to help me stay focused.

Here are my previous updates:
January Update
February Update
March Update
April Update

May Update
June Update

July Update

Now for the month of August!

Run 3-4 times a week: Half marathon training started this month so I've definitely been getting in those runs! I've run at least 3 times each week this month!

Incorporate at least one walk every week for cross training: I tried this for the first week or so and just couldn't make it happen. With school starting and my new job I just couldn't fit it in. :-(

Participate in the August Core Focus Challenge: I didn't do the exercises every day but I did do them about 3 times a week. On the other hand, I was horrible at posting about the exercises on Challenge Loop and Instagram. :-/

Daily Bible Devotion: Yes! I've been continuing with the She Reads Truth Bible plans! I love that site!

Stretch and Roll Daily: I've really slacked on this goal. And that's probably why my quad is super tight.

Manage my time as I start a new job: I think I am finally figuring this one out. I made sure to plan time every day for blog writing and lesson planning as well as the daily chores of the house.

Per #GoalGetter2013 requirements, I posted the following picture on Instagram to show my goal progress for August!

For the month of September, I am going to continue to focus on running 3-4 times a week. I am going to make the long run a priority now that I am training again. I am going to continue with my daily Bible devotions and stretching and rolling. I also want to focus on spending quality individual time with each of my boys this month. I feel like I am constantly redirecting their behavior or busy doing things around the house. I want to spend time with them where we just talk and I just listen. They are growing up way too fast and I don't want to miss a thing!

I hope you are joining me for both the Weekly Chase and #GoalGetter2013!

#GoalGetter2013 Update: July

Can you believe how fast July went by??? Wow! Since it's a new month that means it's time to check up on everyone's goals for the year! Let's do our monthly #GoalGetter2013 update!

As you know, I've been using #GoalGetter2013 and the Weekly Chase to help me stay accountable for my running resolutions and weekly goals. I will be doing an update each month to help me stay focused.

Here are my previous updates:
January Update
February Update
March Update

April Update

May Update
June Update

Now for the month of July!

Run at least 3 times a week and keep up my mileage: Since I finished the run streak I've been running at least 4 times a week! I've also been doing long runs of at least 5 miles every weekend. There was one week this month when I went on a mission trip to Destin that I only got in 2 runs that week. Overall...pretty good!

Incorporate at least one walk every week for cross training: Almost! I missed one week of this. Those late afternoon thunderstorms interfere with these walks!

Daily Bible Devotion: Success! I continued with the She Reads Truth Bible plans. We've been studying women of the Bible and I'm really enjoying it! I've also started a new study by Kay Arthur that I am really excited about!

Stretch and Roll Daily: 75% on this one. Once the streak ended I forgot about stretching and rolling on the days I didn't run. Need to make it a routine every day!

Per #GoalGetter2013 requirements, I posted the following picture on Instagram to show my goal progress for July!

For the month of August, I am going to continue to focus on running 3-4 times a week. Half marathon training also starts this month so my mileage will be increasing! I also want to continue to incorporate at least one walk in each week...preferably with my family. I'm also going to be participating in Kat's August Core Focus Challenge! Daily Bible Devotions and daily rolling and stretching are goals I will be continuing this month. A new goal this month will be managing my time as I start my new job. I will need to use my time wisely in order to continue to blog, do lesson plans, and manage the house!

I hope you are joining me for both the Weekly Chase and #GoalGetter2013!

It's a new month and time to recap last month's #GoalGetter2013 progress! I hope you are all getting after those goals you set back in January!

As you know, I've been using #GoalGetter2013 and the Weekly Chase to help me stay accountable for my running resolutions and weekly goals. I will be doing an update each month to help me stay focused.

Here are my previous updates:

May Update

Now for the month of June!

Run at least one mile every day for the Runner's World Run Streak: Boom! I crushed this goal this month! I even ran while on vacation! As of today, I have been streaking for 37 days!

Daily Bible Devotion Goal: I've done pretty good with this thanks to She Reads Truth! I've done two bible studies this month...1 Peter and 2 Peter!

Stretch and Roll Daily Goal: Yes! Since I've been running every day this has been easy. Stretching and rolling are part of my run routine so it was easy to crush this goal this month!

Per #GoalGetter2013 requirements, I posted the following picture on Instagram to show my goal progress for June!

For the month of July, I am focusing on running at least 3 times a week and keeping up my mileage. I will start half marathon training in August so I want to be strong and ready! I'm also focusing on cross training. My goal is to incorporate at least one walk in every week..gotta start somewhere right? As I've talked about in my Weekly Chase posts, I want to continue to read my Bible daily. I also want to continue to stretch and roll daily.

It's a new month and time to recap last month's #GoalGetter2013 progress! I know you are all crushing those goals and resolutions you set back in January!

Now for the month of May!

5 by the 5th Virtual Race Series Running Goal: The day I chose to run this it was pouring down rain...we were under a flash flood warning. So I had to run it on the treadmill. I always run slower on the treadmill but I still got it done! 5K in 33:27!

Running 3 Times a Week and Keeping Up My Mileage Goal: Most weeks I got in my 3 runs. I kept my mileage up by running 7 miles, 6 miles, and two 5 milers!

Daily Bible Devotion Goal: I started a devotion by She Reads Truth this month. It was all in the book of Nehemiah! I really enjoyed it and have already started another one of their devotions!

Stretch and Roll Daily Goal: I didn't do as well with this as I wanted. I stretched and rolled on my run days and maybe a few days other than that. But now every day like I was wanting to do.

Per #GoalGetter2013 requirements, I posted the following picture on Instagram to show my goal progress for May!

For the month of June I am focusing on the Runner's World Run Streak. I will run at least one mile every day. As I've talked about in my Weekly Chase posts, I want to continue to read my Bible daily. I also want to continue to stretch and roll daily.

The Weekly Chase #22!

Yes I know I am a day late with the Weekly Chase but I celebrated the Memorial Day holiday with my family yesterday. Here are a few pics from my weekend! I had a blast!

Now it's time to tell you all about my goals for this week in the Weekly Chase! I hope you will link up with us this week too!

Road Runner Girl

For the month of May Molly has a new challenge for us! It's called Bring a Friend Along. We want you to bring a friend into part of your goal making...whether it be for exercising, sanity, prayer partners, etc. We all know how important goal setting is...let's get our friends involved with us!

Here's how I did with last week's goals!

  • Goal #1: Communicate with my accountability partner for my daily Bible devotions (challenge goal). She shared an awesome bible verse with me this week! Still would like to communicate a little more.
  • Goal #2: Stretch and roll every day. About 75% with this one. I did this on the days that I ran and a few days that I didn't run. But still not every day like I want.
  • Goal #3: Work on fundraising for the St. Jude's Memphis Half Marathon. Didn't do a lot with this this week. I need to make some phone calls and write some emails for an idea that I have.
  • Goal #4: Run at least 3 times this week. I only got two runs in this week. With subbing and it being the boys last week of school...life got in the way and I missed a run.
  • Goal #5: Make better food choices and decrease my portion sizes. I did really well with this at the beginning of the week. But then came the weekend, my kid free time with the hubby, and I ate whatever I wanted. :-/

So here's the goals I am planning for this week!

Goal #1: Communicate with my accountability partner for my daily Bible devotions (challenge goal). I'm going to try to share a few verses with her this week.

Goal #2: Stretch and roll every day. This should be easy this week due to goal #5!

Goal #3: Work on fundraising for the St. Jude's Memphis Half Marathon. Gonna try to send a few emails this week.

Goal #4: Make better food choices and decrease my portion sizes. Really want to focus on this!!!! I need my shorts to fit!!! ;-)

Goal #5: Run at least one mile every day. Yesterday started the Runner's World Run Streak! I did this last summer and have decided to do it again this summer. The plan is to run at least one mile every day until July 4th. If you don't break the streak...that's 39 consecutive days of running! It will be trickier for me this year because we are going on vacation (Disney here we come!!!!!) in a few weeks. But I'm going to try my hardest to not break the streak while I'm on vacation! If you haven't seen them...my friend Pavement Runner made some pretty awesome badges and a Facebook cover for us streakers! :-)

So those are the goals for the week!

QOTD: What goals do you have for this week?

The Weekly Chase #21

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine was super busy but a lot of fun! Friday was Sawyer's kindergarten graduation. Saturday we went and watched my friend's daughter's dance recital. It was so cute!!! Sunday I ran 6 miles, went to church, went to my friend Stephanie's going away party, attended Hayden's Cub Scouts Crossover ceremony (he's officially a Bear now), and it was our 12th wedding anniversary! Whew! Here are a few pics from the weekend! You can see more on Instagram...make sure you're following me!

It's Monday so you know what time it is...Weekly Chase time! Time to declare those goals and get after them!

Here are the goals I had last week:

  • Goal #1: Communicate with my accountability partner for my daily Bible devotions (challenge goal). Yes although I wish I had communicated a little more with her. I did tell her about a new devotion I started from She Reads Truth. It's a study from Nehemiah and I'm really enjoying it!
  • Goal #2: Stretch and roll every day. Yikes! I was super bad about doing this this week. I only stretched and rolled on the days I ran.
  • Goal #3: Work on fundraising for the St. Jude's Memphis Half Marathon. Got a little more done on my fundraising page. And I started brainstorming ideas.
  • Goal #4: Run at least 3 times this week. Yep! I ran on Monday night, Thursday night, and a long run on Sunday.
  • Goal #5: Make Friday a special day for Sawyer as he graduates from Kindergarten. Yes! I think he had a great day! We went to lunch with friends. Later that afternoon he wanted to get fro-yo and walk around in Pet Smart. That night we had dinner at the place of his choice with the grandparents. He seemed to have had a fun day!

Here are my goals for this week:

Goal #1: Communicate with my accountability partner for my daily Bible devotions (challenge goal). I hope to communicate a little more with her this week.

Goal #2: Stretch and roll every day. Must make this a routine before serious training starts!

Goal #3: Work on fundraising for the St. Jude's Memphis Half Marathon. I need to contact some people about my fundraising ideas. Here's my fundraising page if you would like to donate! ;-)

Goal #4: Run at least 3 times this week.

Goal #5: Make better food choices and decrease my portion sizes. I will admit that I don't eat as well as I should. I am a southern girl at heart and I love my fried homecooked food...and pizza. But after pulling out my shorts this past week for the summer...I need to shed a few pounds. My shorts are fitting a little tighter than I would like them to. So my plan is to make better food choices as well as not eating so much. I know this will take some determination but I am ready to do it.

So there's my plan for the week! It's also the last week of school this week! Summer is here and I can't wait to spend it with my boys! Oh yeah...and we are going to Disney World this summer too! Yay!!! :-)

QOTD: What goals are you chasing this week? Any helpful diet tips for me?

The Weekly Chase #19

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I know I sure did! Saturday the boys all got some yard work done. Then we went to lunch with my friend Stephanie and her family. After lunch the boys finished up yard work and then my sister-in-law, her hubby, and their two dogs came over for a movie night. It was fun but the night ended early because I had to go to bed early. I had to wake up at 4AM for a long run the next morning with my friends! The long run was great...although it was hard getting out of bed that early! It's been a while since I got up so early for a run!

Sunday, after my run, we went to church. Then we headed to my in-laws house and celebrated Cinco de Mayo! My family LOVES their Mexican food! We ate fish tacos for lunch...so good! And my hubby made homemade salsa...his specialty! :-) It was a great afternoon of family time!

It's another Monday...which means it's time for the Weekly Chase! I hope you will join all of us this week as we chase those goals!

Road Runner Girl

It's also a new month and Molly has a new challenge for us! It's called Bring a Friend Along. We want you to bring a friend into part of your goal making...whether it be for exercising, sanity, prayer partners, etc. We all know how important goal setting is...let's get our friends involved with us!

So...how did I do last week? Let's recap my goals!

  • Goal #1: Be a better mom by spending at least 15 quality minutes with each son every day (challenge goal). I felt like I did pretty good with this goal last month. My boys seem to have appreciated the extra time I have spent with them. I plan to keep this one going!
  • Goal #2: Read my Bible devotional every day and grow in my relationship with God (challenge goal). I did pretty good with this...but still have room for improvement. I want to make this as much as a part of my daily routine as brushing my teeth! ;-)
  • Goal #3: Stretch and roll every day (challenge goal). Pretty good...but still an ongoing goal.
  • Goal #4: Run at least 3 times this week. Yes! I ran two short runs and a long run this week! Yay!
  • Goal #5: Finish cleaning out my closet. More progress but still not complete.
  • Goal #6: Drink my water! I did much better with this! I DID have a sweet tea on Saturday with lunch and a coke on Sunday at lunch. But the rest of the week...all water! :-)

Here are the goals I am going to chase this week!

Goal #1: Find an accountability partner for my daily Bible devotions (challenge goal). I want someone who I can text/call/see and for us to keep each other accountable for reading our Bibles each day, praying for each other, and sharing verses throughout the week.

Goal #2: Stretch and roll every day.

Goal #3: Finish cleaning out my closet. The garage sale is this weekend!

Goal #4: Work on fundraising for the St. Jude's Memphis Half Marathon. I'll tell you more about this later but I signed up for this race as a St. Jude's Hero. I will be fundraising to raise money for St. Jude's Hospital. My goal is to raise $500 and I'm hoping to accomplish that. It's my first time fundraising for a race so I'm a little worried about it!

Goal #5: Run at least 3 times this week. I greatly enjoyed my long run this past weekend so I want to get another one in this next weekend as well as my two short runs during the week.

So that's my plan for the week!

QOTD: What are your goals this week? Have you ever raised money for a race? Any fundraising suggestions for me?
