Fitness Friday...July 8th Edition!

Happy Friday y'all!!! It's been a busy but fun week around here! Hayden and my hubby have been away at Boy Scout summer camp. We have missed them so much!!! But my friends Kirstin and Jim have taken great care of me and Sawyer this week. They have fed us dinner every night y'all! We are crazy blessed!!!

I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July! We did! We missed Andy and Hayden but had fun with friends! We ate homemade pizza, salad, fruit, and yummy cake!!! Then we even made it home in time to go into the backyard and watch the city's fireworks! So fun!

Tuesday we went to the pool. The pool was closing that afternoon for a swim meet but we got there in time to have a few hours of swimming. About 15 minutes before they were supposed to close it started thundering and lightning and we had to get out early. It made for a rainy drive home! But we were thankful for the sun and swim time we had!

Wednesday we went shopping for a little while. Then we made a Starbucks stop of course!!!

Thursday I went to Kirstin's house while Sawyer was at gymnastics. Her daughter Maddy opened the door when I got there and welcomed me to our "girl's luncheon!" They had cooked a broccoli and cheese quiche, caesar salad, and fruit salad for lunch! Maddy even had classical music playing in the background! It was awesome and so sweet!!!

After lunch we watched the new Cinderella movie since they had never seen it! Such a fun afternoon!

Now it's time for Fitness Friday! I got in all my runs this week, walked every day, AND got in some strength training too!

  • Friday- 2.52 mile run in 20:14 average pace 8:01
  • Saturday- 5.06 mile run in 44:01 average pace 8:41, Strength training: Body Pump Class

  • Sunday- 2.34 mile run in 19:05 average pace 8:09
  • Monday- 4.06 mile run in 34:05 average pace 8:24
  • Tuesday- 2.55 mile run in 20:43 average pace 8:08, Strength training: back, biceps, shoulders,  abs
  • Wednesday- #plankaday 2:05, 2.55 mile run in 20:29 average pace 8:03

  • Thursday- #plankaday 2:05, 2.53 mile run in 20:15 average pace 8:00, Strength training; chest, triceps, legs

So that was my week! I was so proud to get in 3 strength training sessions! I'm LOVING the gym! And it's been fun having my friends Kirstin and Jim to workout with this week since Andy is out of town.

My runs went great this week. It's been super hot and humid. Getting up early isn't helping in beating the heat because at 6:00AM there is still a feels like temperature in the 90's! It seems like it has been so much hotter this summer than it usually is.

This weekend I'm planning on running 5-6 miles. Last week I could only get in 5 miles because it was just way too hot. I'm also planning on doing the Body Pump class Saturday morning after my run. It was a great class and I really enjoyed it!

I hope everyone has a great weekend! I can't WAIT to see Andy and Hayden when they get home tomorrow!!!!

The Weekly Chase #181!

Happy 4th of July y'all!!! I hope you all have an amazing day celebrating our freedom! God Bless the USA!!!!

Today we are heading to our friends house for the 4th! It's going to be fun! Kirstin is making her famous homemade pizza!!! Yum!!!

This past weekend was a great one! Friday we decided to go to Costco in Mobile with Kirstin. We didn't really think it through though. Going into Mobile AND out of Mobile at the beginning of the 4th of July weekend wasn't real smart. On the way there we ran into traffic on the bayway. But finally we made it! We enjoyed a yummy lunch at McAllister's (Hayden's favorite) and then enjoyed all the samples at Costco!

We also went to Field and Stream and Dick's Sporting Goods. Afterwards, we stopped at Starbucks (I mean we had to since it was in the same shopping center as Costco!!!) for coffee on the ride home.

We were thankful for our coffee because we got stuck in traffic! It took us about an hour to go home instead of about 20 minutes! We were all going a little car crazy for a while!

Later that night I picked up our Friday night pizza. We also finished getting Andy and Hayden all packed up for Boy Scouts summer camp. They left early Saturday morning.

I woke up a little after they left for my run. Y'all it was a miserable run! It was so hot! And it was just awful! But I made it through it. I'll tell you more on Wednesday!

After my run I came home and showered and had coffee and breakfast. Then I met Kirstin and her hubby at the gym. We did the Body Pump class! It was tough but so much fun! I'm loving the gym y'all!!!

Later that afternoon we headed to my friend Lisa's house for a cookout and pool time! We had a blast swimming! I also got to see one of my super sweet students from last year!!!

Sunday morning I woke up early to get in another run. I'm trying to beat the heat y'all but when the feels like temperature is 90 degrees at 6AM there just isn't any hope!!! I got the run in though and it wasn't as bad of a run as the day before.

We met Kirstin and her family for lunch. Then we all headed to Pensacola to visit the Naval Museum and Pensacola Lighthouse! Kirstin's cousin Emily was in town so we had fun showing her these two favorite places of ours!

Now it's time for the Weekly Chase! It's a new week and I have new goals to achieve! I hope you will link up your own goals with me too! And feel free to use the badge below in your post too! You can grab the badge HERE! :-)

  • Goal #9: Get everything ready for Hayden to go to Boy Scout Summer Camp. Yes! It was a busy week of shopping and packing but we got it done! Now I'm hoping he's having a great time!!!

And here are my goals for this week!

Every week goals:

Goal #1: Run every day!
Goal #2: Roll, stretch, and ice daily.
Goal #3: Maintain my weight by logging my calories.

Fitness Friday...July 1st Edition!

Oh my goodness is it already July?? This summer is going by way too fast!

This week was all about getting Hayden ready to leave for Boy Scout summer camp tomorrow. We had to do lots of shopping for last minute things that he needed as well as take him to the doctor for a physical. Poor guy got to the doctor and they wanted to go ahead and give him the tetanus shot that he would need of 6th grade. I felt so bad he was going to have to get a shot! But he took it like a champ and didn't cry or even tear up! Big boy!

One of our purchases that he was the most excited about was a pair of hiking boots! He loves that they are blue instead of the normal brown or tan!

He also has to have a rain suit. Do you know how hard it was to find a rain suit in his size? Thank goodness for Bass Pro Shop!

The morning weather this week wasn't sizzling hot so I was able to sit on my back porch and drink my coffee and read! One morning I found this little guy crawling around! He was a HUGE snail and so cute!!! But I scared him with my pictures and he hid in his shell for a few minutes!

I finished the book "All the Light We Cannot See" this week and it was really good!

Then I started a book that my sister recommended to me called "The Bronze Horseman." Y'all!!! I can't put this one down! It is soooo good!!! And it's part of a trilogy which makes me so excited!!!

The MOST exciting thing that happened this week....we joined the gym!!! We joined our local YMCA which is about half a mile from our house! I am so excited!!! My hubby is excited too because working out is something we can do together! We've already gone twice and had such a great time!

Amidst all of the summer camp preparations we also got to hang out with our friends the Brendels some this week too. Most days this week had some rain so a lot of the plans we made were rained out. The kids enjoyed playing at each other houses and Kirstin and I enjoyed lots of coffee!!!

Now it's time for Fitness Friday! I missed telling you all about my runs last week since I was at my sister's house but I assure you I ran all week there! And this week I've kept up my streak as well!

  • Friday- 2.62 mile run in 21:07 average pace 8:04, Strength training: legs

  • Sunday- 2.52 mile run in 20:17 average pace 8:03
  • Monday- #plankaday 2:05, 2.51 mile run in 20:07 average pace 8:01, Strength training: arms

  • Tuesday- #plankaday 2:05, 2.26 mile run in 18:15 average pace 8:04

  • Wednesday- #plankaday 2:05, 2.56 mile run in 20:26 average pace 8:00

  • Thursday- #plankaday 2:05, 2.57 mile run in 20:28 average pace 7:58, Strength training: legs

So that was my week! All of my runs went great this week! And I LOVED all my workouts at the gym! I'm hoping to get in 2-3 strength training workouts each week. This runner wants to get STRONG! ;-)

This weekend I am going to try to run a 6 mile long run. Hopefully I can slow down some and have a great run!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and a great 4th of July!!!
