Track Work!!!

Fabulous track work!!! We ran a 1 mile warm up. Then we ran 5 x 400's. Then a half a mile cool down. It was so much fun!!! Unfortunately, I hit the start button on my Garmin when I was stretching so my stats are not correct. Thanks to Angela, who was running with me the whole time, I got the correct stats from her...3.56 miles in 41:00 at an average pace of 11:31.

Easy 3!

This was a nice recovery run for me! My legs are still pretty sore from Sunday night's 11 miler. I ran 3.25 miles in 35:09 at an average pace of 10:49. Getting excited...my 5th half marathon is in 12 days!!!!

Night Time Long Run!

This was a very eventful run! It started out beautiful! We were running down by the bay and the water was gorgeous. It was a little hot at first but started cooling off about halfway in. We saw a baby snake (YIKES) and that made us pick up the pace for a while! Also once it started getting dark it was PITCH BLACK! That was a little scary. My knees are a little achy because the route was concrete most of the way. But the best news is that this is the best run I've ever had on this route! There's a steady hill the last half a mile that kills me...I always have to walk. But not tonight!!! Woo Hoo!!!!

My stats: 11.25 miles in 2:11:04 at an average pace of 11:39!

Angie, Paige, and me before our run!

I will say...I prefer my 4:45 AM runs that start out dark but end with the sun rising. I REALLY don't like not being able to see where I am stepping...especially after seeing a snake!!! We ended the night with a visit to Waffle House! We had a great time eating and laughing!

Here's Paige with her "side" of pickles! They brought her out a plate full of pickles...we thought it was hilarious! I'm thinking we were a little delirious after running 11 miles lol!

Now...ready for bed! Night!

Tempo Run Thursday!

Awesome run this morning! First mile was at a slower pace, then I increased the pace the next 2 miles, and the last mile was at a slower cool down pace. Challenging but fun! I ran 4 miles in 41:12 at an average pace of 10:18! Looking forward to my 11 miler this weekend!

4.25 Miles!

The first part of this run I was feeling pretty sluggish. My legs are still a little sore from all those hills on Saturday. But the last half I picked up the pace a little and felt great! I ran 4.25 miles in 45:54 at an average pace of 10:47! I'm feeling so blessed that God gave me the ability to run and great friends to run with!!!

Runningskirts.com Review! AWESOME!!!

Not sure if you remember THIS post, but I am sooo excited to have received my first review products from runningskirts.com!!!

I was pretty excited when I opened my mailbox the other day and there was a package from runningskirts.com. I remember thinking, "I haven't ordered any new skirts lately." Well, I opened it up and inside was a letter telling me these were my first products to review...a pair of their black RunLove Compression Socks and the Azure Ultra Swift running skirt!!! Woo hoo!!!

Ok so the compression socks first. They are a little tough to get on at first...they are pretty tight (that's where the compression comes in). But one thing I like is they put an "R" and a "L" on the socks so you know which one is for the right and which one is for the left. That's a big help for someone who wakes up at 4:30AM to run. I'm usually still half asleep when I'm getting dressed lol!

They were super comfy to run in. I was a little worried that they would be hot but I didn't even notice I had them on. It is amazing how wonderful these made my legs feel! Usually after my runs, my legs have a burning feeling in them all day. Almost like I can feel the lactic acid. After wearing these socks, I did not feel that at all! My legs felt like I hadn't even run that morning! And it goes without saying that they are super super cute!!! I will DEFINITELY be getting more of these socks!!!

On to the skirt! I was pretty excited because I have not tried an ultra skirt yet. This is what they have to say about the ultra skirts:

"our featherweight performance mesh skirt in the same fit as the Running Skirt style with attached mesh brief/bunhugger with reverse seams to prevent chafing, two roomy velcro closure pockets at the hips and a third velcro pocket in the back offer plenty of storage for all your running necessities. This is the ultimate in cool comfort!"

I was pretty excited about that THIRD pocket! I always need more places to store my gels and car key on long runs. And knowing the material is supposed to be cooler is a plus for this southern girl who lives in such a hot climate.

Here's a view of that third back pocket:

Running in this skirt was awesome! It had the same feel as my other runningskirts but I could definitely tell that the fabric was lighter and cooler! The fabric wicked all the sweat away and kept me dry! I highly recommend this skirt for those hot summer runs! The only complaint I have is that this skirt seems to run a lot smaller than the normal runningskirts. I had to send the one they gave me back and get the next size up. And truly, when I order another ultra skirt I am going to order two sizes up from what I usually wear. I'm not sure if this is due to the different fabric or what. Despite the size issue, I will definitely be ordering more of the ultra skirts for summer!

Here's me after my run! See how cool and dry I am?

And this one is just showing off my cute outfit with my cute boys!

To sum it up in just a few words: Runningskirts.com products are AWESOME!!! I've tried many other brands of skirts and none even compare. And the compression socks are the best ones I've ever tried! So go ahead! Head over to runningskirts.com and get your skirts on!!!

Hard and Hilly Long Run!

This morning's long run consisted of 7 miles on a hilly route in Mobile and then the last 3.1 miles at the GO Run at the University of South Alabama (which was also a hilly route). I had to walk up some of those hills but I am pretty proud of my time for such a difficult route. It was also nice to run in a different city! I ran a total of 10.16 miles (notice I HAD to include that .16 lol) in 1:54:60 at an average pace of 11:19! Only 3 weeks until my 5th half marathon!!!

Here's a picture of all of us Sole2Soul Sisters at the race! And what's cool...we won best shirt at the race!!!

Hills...and a Crappy Run!

Well...the humidity and heat are back! I woke up this morning not feeling that great. I've had a cold all week and this morning I felt a little nauseous. I ran anyway but after 2 miles I had to walk. I walked the last half a mile. I just wasn't feeling it this morning. But at least I tried. I ran a total of 2.54 miles in 31:15 at an average pace of 12:20. That walking really slowed me down. Hoping I feel great on Saturday for my 10 miles...getting a little nervous now since I felt bad today. :-(

I decided to go to the doctor this morning since I was still feeling nauseous and had no energy. He went ahead and gave me a z pack so I'm hoping that clears all this sickness up!

4 Miles...New Route!!!

Ran a new route this morning. Always great to run a new route! I ran 4 miles in 41:30 at an average pace of 10:21! It wasn't as cool outside this morning but wasn't hot either. I'm fighting sinuses/a cold right now. Hoping to be feeling better for my 10 miles this weekend. We are going to run 7 miles...and then finish the last 3 at a 5K race! Happy Day friends!!!

Labor Day LSD Run!

So...did you know we have been under a tropical storm warning for the past 2 days?

Well, Tropical Storm Lee tried to detour us but he couldn't stop us! I will admit that I was a little worried when I first started running because there was lightning in the distance. But our route turned us around and we started running away from the storm. I was lucky...I did not get rained on. I did have to endure the winds! I know God kept that storm from coming our way..because I asked him to! Nothing like the power of prayer! It was a great run! I am really enjoying my long runs now that I've convinced myself to slow down. I ran 9 miles today in 1:44:29 at an average pace of 11:36! And a big shout out to my girl Paige! She ran her first 16 miler today! She did GREAT! I'm so proud of her! This afternoon, Paige came over and we just relaxed, talked, and ate Chinese food! We had a great time just hanging out! And what's funny...we were wearing the same shirt today lol!

Happy Labor Day everyone!!!

5 Miles...Solo!

5 Fabulous solo miles...although I missed my girls! The runs with them this week haven't worked for me...Tuesday morning my alarm didn't go off. Ugh! And Wednesday Hayden got sick and I didn't get the sleep needed to wake up at 4:30am to run. So I ventured out on my own this morning. I set out to do 3-4 and ended up running 5! The weather was perfect...a little bit of wind, a few sprinkles for about half a mile, and fairly cool. The tropical depression in the Gulf must be contributing to that. And the sunset was GORGEOUS this morning!

Stats: 5 miles in 52:26 at an average pace of 10:29

We have our long run planned for Monday...Labor Day. I'm supposed to run 9. It's not looking good though with this tropical depression. Not sure if we are going to be able to run or not. Hope we can!

I hope everyone has a safe and fun Labor Day weekend!!!
