Fitness Friday...April 29th Edition!

Happy Friday...finally!!! This week was long! I thought Friday would never get here lol!

Even though it was long I still had a good week!

On Monday my boys had Field Day at school! I know Field Day on a Monday is weird...but that's because the original date (that was on a Friday) had to be rescheduled due to rain. The boys looked so cute in their Field Day shirts before school!

They had a blast at Field Day! But Hayden came home a different guy! LOL!

After dinner that evening the boys and I took a 2 mile walk! Andy had a work meeting and got home late otherwise he would have joined us. I'm loving this weather right now!

Tuesday is our super busy day. Hayden has art class and then he has his weekly Boy Scout meeting that night. I am driving here and there to get him everywhere he needs to be. But he brought home a beautiful new masterpiece from art!

While Andy and Hayden were gone to the Boy Scout meeting, Sawyer and I took another walk after dinner!

Wednesday morning it was super humid during my run. Summer is approaching the Gulf Coast fast y'all! I was so sweaty after those 2 miles!

That evening we met our friends for dinner at Chicken Salad Chick. Sawyer missed out because he was at gymnastics...but he didn't mind because he doesn't like Chicken Salad Chick. Hayden and Maddy decided to sit at a table by themselves...away from the parents lol! They were so cute!!!

After dinner we were rewarded with a gorgeous sunset!!!

Thursday I had to pick up Hayden's Boy Scouts uniform from the alterations place. Since my mother-in-law is out of town and this girl doesn't know how to sew...I had to take it somewhere to get his new patches sewn on. My boy is now officially a Boy Scout now that all traces of Cub Scouts is off of his uniform!

And I had to pass Starbucks on the way home...and I hadn't gone all week....so....you know I had to stop lol!

In other news...did y'all see the newest from runDisney??? They are offering a Virtual Race Series this summer! There are 3 different 5K races....Yellow Shoes 5K, Red Pants 5K, and White Gloves 5K. Or you can run all three to complete the Virtual Running Shorts Series! Each race includes a digital race bib and a finisher medal. If you complete the series you get an additional medal and Mickey tumbler. What do y'all think???

Now it's time for Fitness Friday! I had a great week of runs although it's started getting super humid out there. Last Friday was my 700th day of my run streak!!!!!!!!

  • Friday- #plankaday 2:15, 2.50 mile run in 19:58 average pace 8:00

  • Sunday- 2.67 mile run in 21:45 average pace 8:09
  • Monday- #plankaday 2:15, 1.90 mile run in 15:27 average pace 8:08, 2 mile walk

  • Tuesday- #plankaday 2:05, 2.31 mile run in 18:57 average pace 8:12

  • Wednesday- #plankaday 2:15, 2.35 mile run in 18:50 average pace 8:01

  • Thursday- #plankaday 2:05, 2.36 mile run in 18:50 average pace 7:58

Like I mentioned above...it was a great week of runs! On Thursday I was so thankful to get my run in that morning because I saw lightning halfway through the run. Luckily the lightning flashes were several minutes apart so I think it was still far off.

Tomorrow I plan on getting in 6 miles in the morning. I have a church women's conference that starts tonight and finishes up tomorrow morning. So 6 miles before the conference will be about all I have time for.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!

QOTD: What was your best run or workout this week? What do you think about runDisney's new virtual races?

8 Miles...and a Dog Story!

It's really weird not having a race recap to write this week! I did a ton of racing this winter! But all my races are complete until the fall.

So right now I'm not training for anything. But that doesn't mean I won't be running long runs this summer.

My plan is to keep a base of at least 6 miles. Some weeks I will run more. It will just all depend on how I feel during the run.

This past Saturday I set out for 7-8 miles. I decided to run my favorite route to downtown and back. The weather was in the 60's. And it was sunny and clear!

This first mile was on sidewalk so I didn't have to worry about traffic. But then I hit the street and I had to be very aware. Also...the weekend before as I was running along this same street a man was walking his dog. He was on the opposite side of the street from me. His big, white, fluffy, friendly-looking dog saw me and started growling and charging at me! I was SCARED TO DEATH! And I think even the man was surprised! He started yelling at his dog but the dog kept coming. And there were cars coming as well. The cars ended up having to stop so that they didn't hit the dog. I could feel the dog brush up against me but luckily he didn't bite me. The owner grabbed him and I kept running. It was so scary.

So this week I was on the lookout for that dog again. Luckily he was not in sight. I breathed a sigh of relief and started enjoying my run. Around mile 3 I had reached the downtown area. It's always so pretty there!

I was having a great run. I decided to go ahead and run 8 instead of 7 miles. I reached mile 4 and it was time to turn around and head back.

Going back I realized that I had been going slightly downhill the way there. So the last half of this run was a lot tougher because it was hilly! And there was some wind that added to it.

I tried to distract myself and not think about the hills. I absolutely LOVED running by this house that had these bushes in front. They smelled soooo good!!! Does anyone know what it is? Is it honeysuckle?

I crossed over the main highway and then I only had about 2 miles to go. I was running down the street and I could see that there was a man running in the middle of the street heading my way. I think he spotted me and he ran over to the sidewalk. Guess what he was doing? Putting a leash on his dog! YES! The same white, fluffy, friendly-looking dog (vicious dog in my opinion) from last weekend!!! I was soooo thankful he put a leash on him! The man and the dog stayed on the sidewalk and as I passed by them the man kept running and said good morning to me. I responded and as soon as I did the dog tried to run after me AGAIN! He almost tripped his owner but the man kept ahold of him thank goodness. Whew!

The rest of the run was uneventful. I made it home safely! And I made it those 8 miles!

The sky was beautiful after my run and I couldn't help but take a picture of the clouds!

It was a great run! But next weekend....I'm changing my route up some. I do NOT like that white dog!

QOTD: Do you carry anything on your runs to protect you from dogs? I need some tips!

The Weekly Chase #171!

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend! We sure did! Of course it went by entirely too fast but it always does.

Did you know that Friday was my 700th day of run streaking???!!! I was super excited that I have made it this far! I celebrated after my run with a jump picture! My hubby did pretty good capturing it!!!

Because I can....I celebrated all day long!!! After work my coworker Allison and I celebrated with Starbucks of course!!!

Then for dinner that night I celebrated with my family and friends, The Brendels, at our favorite Mexican restaurant. The hubby and I split an order of Chicken, Steak, and Shrimp Fajitas! Deliciousness!!

After dinner we came home and the hubby and I watched the movie The Revenant. Wow! That was an intense movie! I can totally understand how Leonardo Dicaprio won awards for it!

Saturday morning I woke up early to get in a long run. I got in 8 miles! I'll tell you more about my run on Wednesday since I'm done with all my race recaps and can get back to my weekly long run recaps! ;-)

After cleaning up from my run Sawyer and I spent the morning together just the two of us. Andy and Hayden had a Boy Scout event that morning. Sawyer wanted to go take a walk down by the bay. This momma never turns down an offer that involves exercise! We had a great morning together!

We came home to eat some lunch. And Hayden and Andy were back as well. We packed everything up and headed to the beach for the afternoon with The Brendels! It was a GORGEOUS day at the beach! The water was too cold for me but the kiddos and Daddy's had a blast playing in the water!

After the beach we all went out to dinner for some seafood. It was the perfect ending to a perfect Spring day!!!

Sunday morning I got in my run of course. Funny story...as I was running I noticed clump of "dirt" along the sidewalk. I thought to myself that it sure looked like horse manure. I made sure not to step in it just in case! I finished my run and was stretching when I heard a weird sound. I looked up and there was a woman riding a horse down the sidewalk! Too funny and I'm so glad I didn't step in the "dirt" clumps lol!

After my run I got all cleaned up for church. Our church was celebrating it's 20th anniversary! I'm so thankful for my church!

We had a lazy Sunday afternoon. Then we met the Brendels for a birthday dinner for Kirstin's mom! And then we had a super yummy birthday Strawberry Shortcake for dessert!

Such a fun weekend!!!

Now it's time for the Weekly Chase! It's a new week and I have new goals to achieve! I hope you will link up your own goals with me too! And feel free to use the badge below in your post too! You can grab the badge HERE! :-)

Road Runner Girl

Here are my goals from last week!
  • Goal #1: Run every day! Yes! And like I mentioned above I reached day 700 this week!!!
  • Goal #2: Roll, stretch, and ice daily. 98%. I didn't roll after my long run on Saturday. :-(
  • Goal #3: Maintain my weight by logging my calories. Yes!
  • Goal #4: Move 11,000 steps or more each day this week. Yes!
  • Goal #5: Run at least 1 run under 2 miles. Yes!
  • Goal #6: Eat less calories each day. Yes! I've been doing so much better this week and the scale is going back down thank goodness!
  • Goal #7: Complete at least one page of the memory books this week. No. I didn't work on these at all. This will be added to this week's goals.

Here are my goals for this week!

Every week goals:

Goal #1: Run every day!
Goal #2: Roll, stretch, and ice daily.
Goal #3: Maintain my weight by logging my calories.
Goal #4: Move 11,000 steps or more each day this week.
Goal #5: Run at least 1 run under 2 miles.

Goal #6: Eat less calories each day. Gonna keep this up to ensure the scale doesn't creep back up.

Goal #7: Complete at least one page of the memory books this week. I've so got to start on this and not procrastinate. Otherwise it's going to be very stressful on me to get it done.

Goal #8: Take at least one walk after dinner with my hubby. Andy keeps saying he needs to be more active. I think if I encourage him and do it with him it may help. Plus it will be good cross training for me as well!

So that's the plan this week! I hope you all have a great week with your goals!

QOTD: What goals are you chasing this week?

Fitness Friday...April 22nd Edition!

Happy Friday y'all!!! This week flew by for me! And I'm not complaining! That makes it only 4 weeks of preschool left...and then time for my summer break!!! I'm ready! But with only 4 weeks of school left that also means I'm super busy at work. The end of the school year for a teacher is always crazy!!!

So one of my goals this last week that I wrote about in the Weekly Chase is to eat less calories each day. I've seen the scale creep back up some and I won't allow that to happen. I worked too hard to lose my weight and don't want to gain it back. I always do better when I have a meal plan. So this week I cooked every night! And I tried to cook as healthy as possible. This meal of pork chops, broccoli, and corn on the cob was one of my favorites this week! And it was only 228 calories!!!

Even though I was trying to eat less calories, I still had some indulgences this week as well. I have learned that if I don't indulge some then I end up sabotaging my weight loss. My indulgences this week were frappuccinos from Starbucks (I know you are surprised lol)! I went every day this week for two reasons:
1) they were awarding double stars starting at 2pm.
2) I had signed up for a star dash and needed to go at least 4 days in a row to earn 40 stars.

A lot of you ask me what I ordered at Starbucks because you don't understand how I can lose weight and still drink frappuccinos. Well...I order a Venti Coffee Frappuccino Light....and it's only 160 calories! I count it as my afternoon snack and only get one if I have the calories for it.

That involves planning all my meals for the day to be sure I can indulge!

So I greatly enjoyed my Starbucks this week! And double stars and an extra 40 stars was icing on the cake!!!

Nothing major happened this week. I DID go on a girls night out to an antique store with my friend Kirstin on Tuesday night. We shopped some and they had wine and appetizers. But I don't drink wine and I didn't eat any of the appetizers since I'm watching my calories AND since all I could think about was how many people put their dirty hands into those food bowls! Yes...I'm weird like that lol!

I also took my preschoolers on a field trip to the elementary school for a kindergarten tour. We had so much fun! But that field trip wore me out lol!

Now it's time for Fitness Friday! Guess what day of my running streak I am on today???? Day 700!!!!!! I can barely believe it!!!! It's getting close to being 2 years of running at least 1 mile every day! :-)

  • Friday- #plankaday 2:05, 2.36 mile run in 19:17 average pace 8:11

  • Saturday- 7.26 mile run in 1:01:05 average pace 8:25
  • Sunday- 2.56 mile run in 20:35 average pace 8:03
  • Monday- #plankaday 2:05, 1.92 mile run in 15:32 average pace 8:06

  • Tuesday- #plankaday 2:06, 2.36 mile run in 18:49 average pace 7:58

  • Wednesday- #plankaday 2:10, 2.21 mile run in 17:47 average pace 8:03

  • Thursday- #plankaday 2:15, 2.31 mile run in 18:43 average pace 8:06

So I had a great week of runs! My best run was on Tuesday morning when my average pace was in the 7's!!! It was the high 7's but still! I've done that in a race but it doesn't usually happen on my every day runs. I was proud!

This weekend I plan on running 6-8 miles. It's nice just getting out there and running the mileage I feel like running. No plan...just running for fun! I love it!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
