Fitness Friday...July 29th Edition!

Happy Friday y'all! We've had a great week! We had such a great time last week at my sister's house but it was good to be home this week.

Monday the boys and I hung out at home during the day. I had laundry to catch up on from being out of town. And we really needed a down day. That night the hubby and I went to the gym!

After the gym we had dinner with the boys. Then we headed to Target to do some birthday shopping for Hayden! It was a fun night!

Tuesday I took the boys out for lunch. Hayden loves Coca-Cola (although he only gets to drink it when we go out to eat since I don't keep soft drinks at our house). So when he saw this truck he had to take a picture silly boy!

After lunch we saw this car in front of us at the stop light! We LOVED the smurf on the back!!!

Then it was time for some grocery shopping since we had no food in the house! Not my favorite chore but one that has to be done!

I also got to hold my big boy one last time as a 10 year old!

Wednesday was Hayden's 11th birthday!!! I let him sleep in that day....although it was killing me because it was his birthday and I wanted to see him! He had birthday pancakes for breakfast (a tradition of ours is to put one candle in whatever they eat for breakfast)!

I love my Hayden and can't believe he is 11 years old!!!!!

We went to lunch with my friend Kirstin. And then we took all the kids swimming! Hayden really wanted to go swimming on his birthday but the weather didn't look great. Luckily the weather held off and he got to swim!!!

After swimming it was present time with Daddy! He LOVED all his presents!

And Cullen loved helping! ;-)

Then we went to Mellow Mushroom (Hayden's choice) for dinner and cake with friends!

After dinner we came home and got to FaceTime with my sister Amy and her kids! And then we got to FaceTime with my mom! I think the boy had an amazing birthday!!!

Thursday we headed to the beach with Kirstin! First we made a quick stop at the Naval Air Museum so Kirstin's friend's daughter that was visiting her could see the museum.

Then it was time for the beach! The water was gorgeous! All the kiddos had a blast!!!

After the beach....Starbucks is a must!!!

Now it's time for Fitness Friday! I didn't do a Fitness Friday post last week since I was at my sister's house and her internet isn't good. But I assure you that I got all my runs in that week. And of course I did this week as well!

  • Friday- 2.7 mile run in 22:15 average pace 8:16, Strength training: triceps, chest, shoulders

  • Sunday- 3.1 mile run in 25:18 average pace 8:08
  • Monday- 2.7 mile run in 21:45 average pace 8:01, Strength training: back and biceps
  • Tuesday- 2.6 mile run in 20:44 average pace 8:04
  • Wednesday- 2.7 mile run in 21:28 average pace 7:58
  • Thursday- 3.1 mile run in 25:07 average pace 8:01 (RnR Virtual Run Drum Solo), Strength training: triceps, chest, shoulders

It was a great week of running and working out! I've felt really strong in my runs lately. I'm hoping that continues.

I'm also still loving the strength training! I had a blast working out with my sister last week! And I'm loving working out with Andy too!

This weekend I plan on doing a 5-6 mile long run. I'm also hoping to do BodyPump at the gym on Saturday since I missed it last week.

I hope you all have a great weekend!!!

5 Miles in the Country!

This weekend's long run was done at my sister's house. She lives out in the country so I had some nice country roads to run on!

I woke up that morning and headed outside. What I saw was this:

No worries! I can deal with fog! The temperature was in the low 70's so it felt great out there! It was a little humid though and the fog didn't help.

My plan was to run 5 miles. I knew it would be a little challenging to get in that many miles. There are some major hills around her house. And I only knew the roads around her house and didn't want to venture too far away.

So the first mile I ran in her HILLY neighborhood. Then I headed to the main roads that I'd been running on all week.

I felt great the entire run! I got in a groove and that helped. I had to run one of the long, gradual steep hills twice to get in my mileage. But I still felt great!

I ran to the end of the road her neighborhood was on. I hadn't run that far down the road all week (although I had run it the last time I was visiting). Amy told me about a house that always has a pit bull dog chained up in the yard. She also said there was one dog (wasn't sure the breed) that was loose in the yard. I didn't see these dogs last time I ran past that house. But I was very very aware as I ran past it this time. Luckily there were no dogs in sight!

But then I had to turn around at the stop sign and run back. Which meant I had to run by that house again. I was a little more confident since they weren't out the first time but still very aware.

You can probably guess what happened. Yes y'all. Two dogs came barreling out of their yard into the road barking at me!!! I screamed really loud and then I stopped running. When I stopped they stopped too thank goodness. I talked very sweetly to them and started slowing walking further away from them and their house. Thankfully they didn't follow me although they did watch me for a while. Once they returned to their yard then I started running again.

It was so scary y'all! I don't think they were pit bulls but they were very good at defending their territory! I don't even know if they were mean dogs.

Dummy me didn't have my dog mace with me but from now on you better believe I will. That was just too close for comfort.

So after that scare I still had a mile to go. I ran it strong and fast. Nothing like a dog scare to make you pick up the pace lol!

It was a great run despite the dogs!

The Weekly Chase #183!

Hey everyone! I hope you had a great weekend!

Friday we had to take my car into the dealership for an oil change. I hate waiting on stuff like that but know it's a must when you own a car. Thank goodness for their Kindles! The boys did great waiting!!!

We had a ton of errands to run Friday. The boys were so good! We had to stop by Starbucks for a birthday gift so of course I had to get a frappuccino while I was there! I ordered a Grande but the barista made me a Venti anyway since that was my normal! So sweet!!!

Friday evening we had dinner with friends while the kids were at VBS. Then it was time to go back to the church and watch their show! These kiddos had such a blast this week!

Saturday morning I woke up to run a long run. I had plans to run about 5 miles. But I was feeling so good that I ran 6.2! It was the best long run I've had in a long time!!! And...I also got a new Garmin y'all!!! I got the Garmin Vivoactive HR! I'm loving it so far!

After getting cleaned up from my run it was time for a girls' day! My friend Kirstin's daughter Maddy was celebrating her 11th birthday! We drove to Montgomery to the Shakespeare Festival to see Beauty and the Beast! It was such an amazing performance!!! We enjoyed lunch and dinner together! So much fun!

Sunday morning I ran. Then I spent the rest of the morning packing. Poor Cullen did NOT want us to leave!

Sunday afternoon we left for another week at my sister's house! I know the boys and I are going to have a blast!

Now it's time for the Weekly Chase! It's a new week and I have new goals to achieve! I hope you will link up your own goals with me too! And feel free to use the badge below in your post too! You can grab the badge HERE! :-)
