Fitness Friday...May 29th Edition!

Hey everyone! It's been a great week around here! We didn't do a whole lot but we got some much needed rest and relaxation! It's been rainy off and on all week as well. Looking forward to some sunshine soon!

Monday was Memorial Day. The hubby was off and we went to my sister in law Katie's house to love on my new nephew Ronan! Isn't he the cutest??!!!

After a yummy grilled hamburger lunch my mother in law and Katie's best friend Ann and I went shopping. But first...we had to make a Starbucks run of course!

After shopping Ann headed back home to Louisiana and Gwen and I met the boys for dinner. Then we went back to the in law's house. Hayden and Grandma had a very competitive checkers session!

And Sawyer and I took a walk around the neighborhood!

Tuesday was a day to run some errands. And I got a new phone...an iPhone 6 which I LOVE! I also got a Lifeproof Case for it. Anyone else use this case? I've always been an Otter Box fan but the Verizon guy talked me into Lifeproof.

Cullen likes the new phone too! ;-)

Wednesday we did some house cleaning, grocery shopping, and met Andy for lunch! And we of course had to take a goofy selfie!

That afternoon we met my sister Christy and niece Ella at the local coffee shop!

The day ended with an amazing sunset!!! LOVE when God shows off like this! :-)

It's time for Fitness Friday! I had a great week of runs. My hip is doing so much better. It's still a little tight but nothing like it was. Yay!

My runs this week were great! It's gotten pretty hot and it's been really humid every day due to all the pop up thunderstorms we've been having. But I'm just happy to be out there running! The hip is feeling better but is still a little tight. I've been very consistent with icing and rolling and I believe that's really helping.

This weekend I am running the Gone For a Run Bad A$$ Runner Virtual 5 Mile Race that I told you about a few weeks ago. Hopefully I will have some friends joining me!

Hope you have a great weekend!

365 Days of RUNNING!!!

Well you read it right! I have been run streaking for 365 days! That's a whole year y'all! I started my run streak last summer with the Runner's World Summer Run Streak. It was my third time participating in the run streak. Usually when the streak is over I'm so ready. But this time...I wasn't ready to stop. So I kept going. At first I had a goal of 100 days. But when I met that goal...I still didn't want to stop. So then I went for 200....same thing. I wasn't ready to quit yet. I decided I may as well go big and go for a whole year. Let me say that I CANNOT BELIEVE I have made it!!!!

I had several struggles along the way. I ran through a calf strain injury (I DID have permission to run from my doctor...he said I could only run one milers until I healed) and a hip injury.

I ran in hotel parking lots, an airport terminal, at the beach, across the country in California, in Disney World, and in wee hours of the morning.

I ran in 4 different states during the streak.

I ran in super hot and humid weather, rain, and super cold weather.

Every single run was done outside. I don't own a treadmill or have access to one so I had no other choice then to do it outside.

I ran when I was tired, when I didn't want to run, when I was happy, and when I was sick.

I got faster. I've PRed every distance I ran during the streak....5K, 10K, and half marathon...the most amazing PR being a sub 2 half marathon which I've achieved TWICE since the streak started!

Streaking has definitely made me a better runner. It has made me stronger. It has made me feel healthier than I've ever felt. And all it took was running at least one mile every single day.

Sooo....when I reached that 365th day....of course I wanted to CELEBRATE!!! Because running every day for an entire year is a big deal!

Have I ever told you that I have the BEST running friends in the entire world??? My Sole2Soul Sisters are amazing! They came to my house on Sunday to run 3.65 miles with me in celebration!

Before the run they dressed me up in crazy sunglasses, a glittery sash, fairy wings, and a princess crown! My friend Susan gave me a Starbucks gift card! Of course I had to have a before picture. And yes...I RAN my 3.65 miles with all of that on lol! We got some crazy stares from people in cars passing by. And we even got some cheers from a man who was in his front yard as we ran by! So much fun!!!

The goal of this run was to celebrate! I wasn't trying to run fast. I just wanted to run with all my friends! During the run we talked about taking a mid run selfie. But I told them I had to run the minimum one mile before I could stop for a selfie. Those are the streaking rules! I LOVE how the picture turned out! It looks like I have my own entourage! :-)

Before I knew it my 3.65 mile run was done! And I had run for 365 DAYS!!!!!

And look at my Garmin! (several people noticed this on Facebook and Instagram!) I not only ran 3.65 miles but look at my time....36.51!!!! How cool is that? I was asked if I planned that...I assure you I did not! But what a fun coincidence!

My loving husband came out to greet us all after the run. My streak would not have been possible without his incredible support! He always encourages me to go after my goals!

And I can't thank these incredible friends enough! They made my day sooo special! It meant the world to me having them all there celebrating with me! (Several of them are streaking as well so I can't wait to celebrate with them when they reach a year!)

And these two! Jenny and Andria! They have been such a tremendous part of my streak! They have run long runs with me! They have run races with me! They have PRed with me! They have encouraged me in so many ways! Love them both so much and am so thankful and blessed to call them my friends!

And of course we celebrated with donuts! Jenny brought us chocolate and powdered donuts! Yum!

3 6 5 DAYS!!!!!

And for those number freaks (like me!) here are my stats from my year of running:

996.16 miles, 94,832 calories burned, and 19 pounds lost!!!!

Yeah...you know I really wanted to go run another 4 miles to make it to 1000 miles...but I am still playing it safe with my hip. It's feeling so much better and I didn't want to risk it.

So...where do I go from here? I'm going to continue to streak!!! I'm not sure for how long. I don't have a goal in mind at the moment. But I'm still loving running everyday so I'm going to keep going! It has become such a part of my life and my daily routine that I can't imagine not running everyday.

Thank you all so much for all of your encouragement along this journey! You are all amazing!!!!!

The Weekly Chase #124!

Happy Memorial Day everyone! Let's not forget what this day is about. Thank you to all the fallen that have served our country so we can be free. And to those currently serving...thank you!

This weekend has been super eventful! Friday was the last day of school for my boys! They were super excited when they got home!

Friday night at 9:38 pm my nephew Ronan Asa was born! He weighed 7 lbs. 13 oz. and was 20 inches long. He is PRECIOUS! I'm so in love!!!

Saturday was spent loving on Ronan! And of course a trip to Starbucks was in order after being in the hospital all afternoon! My sister in law's best friend Ann and I made a quick trip for late afternoon coffee! Yum!

Sunday morning was my 365th day of RUNNING!!!!!! My amazing friends came and ran 3.65 miles with me! They made it so fun by dressing me up in a glittery sash, fun sunglasses, a princess tiara, and fairy wings! And I also received two celebratory Starbucks gift cards....thanks so much Susan and Jen!!!! And Jenny brought donuts for after the run...so yummy!!! It was an amazing morning and I'll recap it for you on Wednesday!

Mid run selfie!

Road Runner Girl

Here are my goals from last week!

  • Goal #1: Run every day! Yes! And I reached my ONE YEAR STREAK on Sunday!!!
  • Goal #2: Roll, stretch, and ice daily. Yes!
  • Goal #3: Maintain my weight by logging my calories. Yes! There were a few days I didn't log all of my food but I knew how many calories I had left and still stayed in that range.
  • Goal #4: Incorporate some weight training into my routine. Three days this week I did assisted pull ups on our pull up bar at home. It's a start!

Here are my goals for this week!

Goal #1: Run every day! Yes you heard it! I'm going to continue the streak! I'm not sure the goal yet but for now I'm going to keep going.

Goal #2: Roll, stretch, and ice daily. Gotta keep this up especially since I'm continuing the streak.

Goal #3: Maintain my weight by logging my calories. Logging my food keeps me accountable. I want to maintain my weight because I'm so happy where I'm at.

Goal #4: Incorporate some weight training into my routine. Hoping to add in some weights in addition to the pull ups this week.

Goal #5: Sign Hayden up for Cub Scout Camp. Hayden wants to go to Cub Scout Day Camp this summer. I've got to get him signed up before it's too late.

Those are the goals for the week! It's the boy's first week of summer vacation so hopefully we can do some fun things as well!

Hope you have a great week crushing your goals!

Fitness Friday...May 22nd Edition!

What a great week I had! It was my first week of summer vacation! The boys had school all week so I enjoyed some me time!

On Monday I spent time with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. We had a girls day! We got manicures and pedicures. And I got my hair cut! Then we had lunch together. It was so much fun! My sister-in-law is being induced TODAY so it was fun to have some girl time before the baby gets here.

Later that afternoon the boys and I walked to the park! We had so much fun!

Tuesday was me and Andy's 14th wedding anniversary!!! It's hard to celebrate in the middle of the week but we did get to enjoy lunch together on his lunch break! I had a Maui grilled chicken sandwich that was amazing! I'm so lucky to be married to this wonderful man!

Wednesday I went to see the movie Age of Adaline with my friend Jenny and her daughter Lily! It was a really good movie! After the movie we went to Starbucks (of course)!

Wednesday night Sawyer had his gymnastics extravaganza show. He did AMAZING!!! I'm so proud of my little gymnast! He's gotten so much better and stronger this past year!

Thursday Jenny and I went shopping! I had a ton of gift cards that needed to be spent. We had so much fun! We even found the cutest patriotic Mickey Mouse shirts at Target...and yes we both bought one!!!

And then...of course....another Starbucks trip! Oh and speaking of Starbucks...have you seen the new "mini" frappuccino that they are advertising? This girl is like...a mini? Say what? Venti is where it's at!!!

Thursday afternoon we saw my sister Christy and my niece Ella! It's been a couple of weeks since we've seen them and Ella grew a ton! She's just so cute!!!

This morning I'm meeting Christy at the coffee shop for some sister time. Then later today I'm hoping to be holding my new nephew in my arms!!! :-)

Now it's time for Fitness Friday! I had some great runs this week. But the weather is getting hotter and more humid each day. Summer is definitely here! The good news...my hip is starting to feel better again. I'm hoping it stays that way!
