The Weekly Chase #163!

Hey everyone! Sorry it's been so long since I've done a Weekly Chase post! Between running the Glass Slipper Challenge in Disney World and then running Rock 'n' Roll New Orleans Half Marathon this past weekend I've been a super busy runner! I had such a blast but I'm ready to get back into a routine!

Be on the lookout for my Disney Princess Weekend recaps as well as my Rock 'n' Roll New Orleans recap!

Both weekends were super super fun!

Yesterday I ran the half marathon in New Orleans with a goal to just have fun. Well I had a blast but I also finished the race under 2 hours! I was super happy with that considering I had just run Princess the weekend before!

Now it's time for the Weekly Chase! It's a new week and I have new goals to achieve! I hope you will link up your own goals with me too! And feel free to use the badge below in your post too! You can grab the badge HERE! :-)

Road Runner Girl

Here are my past goals!
  • Goal #1: Run every day! Yes I kept the run streak alive even through all my travels!
  • Goal #2: Roll, stretch, and ice daily. Yes!
  • Goal #3: Maintain my weight by logging my calories. 75%. It was hard to log everything while I was out of town. But I tried my best to make wise choices as well as splurge a little since I was running so much.
  • Goal #4: Move 11,000 steps or more each day this week. 99%. The only day I didn't hit 11,000 was the day we traveled home from Disney. It's an 8 hour car ride so it was hard to get in all those steps.
  • Goal #5: Run at least 1 run under 2 miles. Yes. I've really been trying to get in my recovery days.
  • Goal #6: Fuel and hydrate for the Glass Slipper Challenge! Yes!
  • Goal #7: Get lessons ready for my substitute while I'm gone. Yes!
  • Goal #8: Pack for Disney Princess Half Marathon weekend! Yes!

Here are this week's goals!

Every week goals:

Goal #1: Run every day!
Goal #2: Roll, stretch, and ice daily.
Goal #3: Maintain my weight by logging my calories.
Goal #4: Move 11,000 steps or more each day this week.
Goal #5: Run at least 1 run under 2 miles.

Goal #6: Cook the majority of meals at home this week. I've been doing a lot of eating out since I've been out of town so much. I'm ready for some yummy home cooked meals.
Goal #7: Unpack. Two weekends away means lots of unpacking to do!

Those are my goals for this week! Good luck with your goals as well!

Fitness Friday...February 26th Edition!!!

Hey everyone! I promise I'm still alive!!! Sorry for the lack of blogging this week. I didn't get home from Disney until late Monday night. And this week I've been so busy trying to get back into the swing of things. Princess weekend wore me out y'all! 22.4 miles of running in 3 days is no joke! But I had an absolute blast and can't wait to tell you all about it! I'll be posting my race recaps soon!

Monday was travel home from Disney day. I was sad to leave but so ready to see my hubby and boys! I missed them so much! But I had an amazing time road tripping with Jenny and Katie!!!

And as you can probably guess...our trip home included a Starbucks stop! I got an Espresso Frappuccino Light and it was so very yummy!

Tuesday was a crazy day! It was back to work for me. But it was also a weather alert day here. They were expecting lots of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes. The schools canceled all after school activities since the weather would be coming through late afternoon/evening. But then...around 11:30...the schools decided to dismiss early at 1:00. I had to leave work early to be home in time for the boys to get off the bus. Because of all that the weather really started to concern me. I don't like bad weather at all...especially tornadoes!

But we were very very blessed! When we were watching the radar there was a clear path through the middle of the storms...and we were in that clear path! We barely got any rain! But in the Pensacola area where my parents live people were not as lucky. My parents were fine but I had friends that lost their house due to a EF-3 tornado. So very sad.

Wednesday was back to normal. The boys were back at school and Andy and I were back at work. We were feeling very very blessed and thankful that day. I also received a fun package that afternoon from Katie, one of my Princess roomies! She got us all this amazing mermaid mug to celebrate our Princess weekend together! So sweet! I love it! And yes...that's glitter at the bottom y'all!!!

Thursday was another day at work. Then I came home and did lesson plans for next week. I also started packing for Rock 'n' Roll New Orleans this weekend! I leave for New Orleans tomorrow! I'm excited but also a little sad to be leaving my family again. I'm sure I'll have a great time and it will be worth it. But I am missing my family already since I just got home from Princess weekend on Monday night.

Now it's time for Fitness Friday! I did a lot of running this past week!!! 22.4 miles in Disney on top of my daily runs for my streak!

  • Friday- Princess 5K! 3.30 mile run in 32:53 average pace 9:59
  • Saturday- Princess 10K! 6.41 mile run in 1:04:20 average pace 10:03
  • Sunday- Princess Half Marathon! 13.55 mile run in 2:22:27 average pace 10:31
  • Monday- 1.55 mile run in 12:48 average pace 8:16
  • Tuesday- 2.07 mile run in 17:21 average pace 8:24
  • Wednesday- #plankaday 2:00, 1.79 mile run in 15:01 average pace 8:24

  • Thursday- #plankaday 2:05, 2.17 mile run in 17:59 average pace 8:17

It was a busy week of running...but so magical and so much fun!!! I'm also very thankful that my legs did so well running so much at Princess Weekend! They got a little sore but the soreness is all gone!

This weekend is the Rock 'n' Roll New Orleans Half Marathon! I LOVE this race! I'll be running it with Jenny. Since we both have Disney Princess legs we will be running this one for fun! It will be my last half marathon of the season. I won't lie...my legs are looking forward to a break in high mileage! If you are running this race and see me...please don't hesitate to come say hi!!!

I hope you all have a great weekend!!!!

QOTD: What was your best run or workout this week? Anyone else running Rock 'n' Roll New Orleans this weekend?

Double Bridge Run Recap!!!

So I've lived in this area my entire life and I've never run the Double Bridge Run. I've always wanted to but I always had something going on the same weekend that interfered.

Well...this was my year! I was super excited when Jenny said she was running it as well. She's done it for several years and told me how much fun it was! I was super excited that we would be able to run it together!

Our plan was to run this race as a training run since we are running the Glass Slipper Challenge in Disney the next weekend. We didn't want to race it and make our legs too tired. Of course if you've been following along on this training then you know we said the same thing about the Big Beach Half Marathon a few weeks ago and we ended up running it pretty fast. We try to slow down I promise!!!

It was an early race morning for us because we had to travel about an hour away. Luckily one of our friends was staying over there and they parked their car at the finish line the day before so we would have a ride back to the start. So that meant we didn't have to drive to the finish and catch a shuttle to the start line. We just picked up our friends and drove straight to the start line! Otherwise it would have been an even earlier morning! We were very thankful!

Once we reached Pensacola the sun was rising. It was sooo gorgeous and the sign of a beautiful day (and race) to come! The temperature was in the 40's but it was super windy. Luckily the wind was in our favor and was at our back most of the race.

We got to the starting line with about 45 minutes to go until start time. We immediately went in search of the porta potties since we had been driving for so long. My coffee that I enjoyed on the ride over was going straight through me!

We got in line and who did we see? My friends Kirstin and Jim!!! They'd stayed on Pensacola Beach the night before so they were already in town. This race was very crowded so I was so happy we found them!

After using the bathroom we all headed towards the start line. But first...one more picture with Shannon, Jenny, Kirstin, and me!

We made it to the start line and it was so crowded! We tried as best as we could to make it up as far as we could. We got to the 11 minute mile corral and we couldn't go any farther. Not cool for me and Jenny who knew we needed to be in at least the 9 minute mile corral. But we couldn't move so we had to stay where we were. The good news...we all got to start together...except for Eric who had gone back to the car for a minute and ended up being able to reach the front of the start line.

Start line selfie!!!

They started letting each corral go. I think they had about 30 seconds in between each corral. Finally we could see the start line!

And then we were off! Jenny and I had to do a lot of weaving around other runners. This race was pretty crowded! And it stayed that way the entire race! I'm not sure if it would have been like that if we had been in the correct corral.

The first three miles we ran out of Maritime Park and in part of downtown Pensacola. Then finally around mile 3 we made it to our first bridge...which is called the Three Mile Bridge!

We of course ran on that bridge for the next 3 miles! It was so gorgeous running on the bridge and seeing the water below us! And at the very top we ran into my friend Tim Ard who always runs and takes pictures of the runners! He ran ahead of us real quick and turned around so he could get a picture of me and Jenny! As always it's a great picture!!!

Around mile 6 we exited the bridge and were in the town of Gulf Breeze! There were several places with crowd support along here. The Chick Fil A had the cow out waving and cheering us on. This was also the place where the 5K started so there were tons of people out for that as well.

Before we knew it we were almost at mile 8 and it was time for our second bridge...the Bob Sikes bridge! This one would lead us straight to the beach!

The water was so gorgeous!!! Pensacola Beach is my favorite!!!

And of course we had to take a running selfie on the top of the bridge!!!

We were almost there! I jokingly asked if we needed to pay a dollar to get on the island like you do when you're in a car!

We exited the bridge and had about a half a mile to go to make it to the finish line!

We did it! We had a great #RaceToTheBeach!!! My official time was 1:20:56! Not too bad and a 15K PR for me...since I'd never run a 15K before lol!

As soon as we crossed the finish line we got our medal and water. Then we headed to the tent to get our free visor or hat! On the way I ran into a friend from high school...Tommy! It was so great seeing him!!!

Our next priority was getting out of the wind. It was sooooo cold!!! We found the perfect spot on the boardwalk and looked up and there came Kirstin and Jim! We found them again...yay!!! So of course it was time for finisher pictures!

And of course Jenny and I had to get one of just the two of us together since we ran the race together! Eric took funny pics of us getting ready to take the picture lol! I love these! And the story behind it is that I was trying to get my gloves all situated lol! And hold my water and banana at the same time lol! Too funny!

After pictures we went in search of some food! They had food for us in one of the restaurants on the boardwalk. They had already prepared boxes of red beans and rice and gumbo and a roll. It was so yummy and I was starving! Unfortunately my hunger took over and I didn't get a picture of the food. Blogger fail lol! But it was so good that Eric went back for seconds lol! So you can kind of see his food!

We hung out a little longer and then it was time to go! We headed home and Jenny treated me to a cup of coffee when we got there. See our cute mugs? Hers was Minnie's bottoms and mine was Minnie's head! LOL!

This race was so much fun! It will definitely be on my race calendar every year! The distance was perfect! Running to the beach is always a plus! And the medal and visor were awesome!!!

Next up....Disney Princess Half Marathon weekend!!!!! :-)

The Weekly Chase #162!

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!!

Friday I got lots and lots of Valentine's Day goodies from my sweet preschoolers! And yes....that IS King Cake Coffee K-Cups that you see! One of my students brought me a box. And then when Hayden got home from school his teacher had sent me two more boxes!!! We are stocked for a short while! Yay!!

Friday was a gorgeous day here on the Gulf Coast! The highs were in the high 60's! The hubby and I enjoyed the afternoon on our back porch with a cup of King Cake coffee!

We stayed home Friday night. We ate our pizza and then it was an early night for me since I had to wake up early for the Double Bridge Run the next morning!

I had a wonderful race Saturday morning! I've always wanted to run this race but every year something has always interfered. I'm glad I got to run it this year because it was an amazing race! It's made the list of annual races that I plan to do! I'll tell you all about it with a recap on Wednesday!

I also received my Princess package this weekend! It has lots and lots of goodies in it and has made me even more excited! I leave on Wednesday for my magical weekend!!!

The rest of the weekend was spent happily at home! We really needed a low key and relaxing weekend after so many busy weekends! And the next two weekends are going to be super busy for me...back to back race weekends!!!!! Disney Princess weekend is first and then Rock 'n' Roll New Orleans is next! I'm so excited!!!

Now it's time for the Weekly Chase! It's a new week and I have new goals to achieve! I hope you will link up your own goals with me too! And feel free to use the badge below in your post too! You can grab the badge HERE! :-)

Road Runner Girl

Here are my goals from last week!

  • Goal #2: Roll, stretch, and ice daily. Yes!
  • Goal #3: Maintain my weight by logging my calories. Yes!

  • Goal #7: Start packing for Disney Princess Half Marathon weekend!!! No. I didn't start packing. I'm such a procrastinator when it comes to packing.

Here are my goals for this week!

Goal #6: Fuel and hydrate for the Glass Slipper Challenge! It looks like it's going to be hot in Disney so I need to make sure I hydrate well. And I see lots of pizza in my future this week!!!

Goal #7: Get lessons ready for my substitute while I'm gone. As a teacher it's harder being out than it is to just be there. I have to get everything planned and ready for the sub.

Goal #8: Pack for Disney Princess Half Marathon weekend! This MUST be done no later than Tuesday because I'm leaving Wednesday!

So that's the plan for this week!

I'm super excited about Princess Weekend!!! Please bear with me as I won't be blogging while I'm gone. I won't be home until late Monday night so next week there will be no Weekly Chase. I promise to have it up the next week though! Thanks for your understanding!

Fitness Friday...February 12th Edition!!!

This week was a short week since we had Monday and Tuesday off for Mardi Gras! It passed by quickly which was ok with me! That means I'm closer to Princess Weekend!!! ;-)

Monday I got to sleep in! I needed it after a busy weekend of traveling for Sawyer's gymnastics meet. I woke up and got to run...in the sunshine!!! I love running in daylight! The rest of the day we relaxed. I got some things done around the house. And the boys and I went on a shopping trip to Target!

That night we went over to our friends Kirstin and Jim's house for dinner and to play Mexican Train Dominoes! It was a fun night!

Tuesday morning I slept in again. Then I had another beautiful sunshiny run! The rest of the day was fun. Andy and the boys met Jim and Maddy at the movies to watch Kung Fu Panda. Kirstin and I decided to go shopping instead! I bought a few clothes with a gift card from my birthday and some Christmas money I hadn't spent yet. We also found Mardi Gras King Cake K-cups!!! Oh my yumminess!!!!

After shopping we needed a pick me up. So Starbucks it was! And my favorite barista Marlon was there! He only works about once a month now because he got a new job so I was so surprised and happy to see him there! He hooked me up with a Trenta Coffee Frappuccino Light! So sweet!

Then we met up with the rest of our family and went out to dinner. Fun!

Wednesday it was back to school and work for us all. It was hard waking up early for my run but I did of course. I had a good day back though. Once I get back into the routine it isn't so bad.

Thursday was a little crazier as Valentine's Day parties began at my preschool! It always makes for a fun but tiring day!

Now it's time for Fitness Friday! I had a great week of runs this week! I keep noticing little aches and pains in my legs though. It seems I always do that before a big race weekend.

  • Friday- #plankaday 2:05, 2.06 mile run in 17:14 average pace 8:22

  • Saturday- 6.21 mile run in 53:10 average pace 8:33
  • Sunday- 2.52 mile run in 20:52 average pace 8:17
  • Monday- 2.51 mile run in 20:57 average pace 8:21
  • Tuesday- 2.51 mile run in 20:56 average pace 8:21
  • Wednesday- #plankaday 2:05, 1.92 mile run in 15:58 average pace 8:19

  • Thursday- #plankaday 2:05, 2.16 mile run in 17:58 average pace 8:19

My runs felt pretty good this week. My legs were really tired and sore after my 6 mile run though. Not sure why those 6 miles felt like that. I'm guessing they were still tired from my half marathon the weekend before.

This weekend I have another race. I'm running the Double Bridge Run in Pensacola, FL. It's a 15K run! I'm just doing it as a training run so I plan to run for fun!

And then next weekend I will be a running Princess!!! I'm so excited!!!!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!

QOTD: What was your best run or workout this week?
