The Weekly Chase...Another Half, Homework, and Tennis!

I know you are all wondering about our camping trip this weekend. Don't worry...I took tons of pics and will share them with you all tomorrow!

But today it's time for The Weekly Chase! I link up every week with Melissa at Live, Love, and Run for this post and I love it! You should join us!!!

Here are my goals from last week and how I did:

  • Goal #1: Continue to do my homework for my Bible Study as well as read Hayden's bible verse each night with him. 50% done! I did my homework but failed to do Hayden's bible reading with him. Sawyer got sick the day of my half and didn't go back to school until Wednesday. Having a sick child gets the routine all out of wack!
  • Goal #2: Get all my runs in...because marathon training has officially begun! DONE! Like I mentioned last week, I only had a goal to run twice...a short run and then my long run. I tried to give my body some recovery time from that hard half. My short run was awesome and my long run was hard...go figure! I also got in a 4.5 mile walk last week and that was awesome! But the fact that I did it the day before my long run could be the reason my long run was a struggle.
  • Goal #3: Every day do a wall sit and a plank. DONE! I even did this at the campsite!!! I planked in the tent (although it was only for 1 minute) and did a 1 minute wall sit in the bathroom! :-)
So here's my plan for this week:

Goal #1: Hydrate and fuel well for my 11th half marathon this weekend! Yes...I just did a half and now I'm doing another one. My marathon training calls for a 10-12 mile run this weekend so I'm going to run a half! Might as well get some bling for some of these training runs right??? :-)

Goal #2: Continue to do my homework for my Bible Study. :-) I didn't get to go to the bible study last week because I had to sub. I'm hoping this week I get to go.

Goal #3: Attend my tennis class twice this week. Yes I started tennis lessons if you didn't read about it here. The classes are offered Tuesday-Thursday so I should be able to make two of them. I'm excited about it!!!

So that's it! This week...I have no subs jobs. I'm hoping I get some calls and can work at least one day this week. I found out from one of the parents at the campout this weekend that my name may not be listed on the sub sheet at the boys' school...although I went up there and gave them my info. She volunteers at the school and said they were getting the sub list together for the teachers and she didn't remember seeing my name on there. She's going to check for me this week. That could explain why no one is calling me from that school. :-/

On the other hand....I have tons of laundry to get caught up on from the weekend! Yuck! So even though I don't have any sub jobs this week I WILL be busy!

QOTD: What are your goals for this week?

Long Run a Day Early and Tennis!

As most of you know I am camping this weekend with my family for the boys' cub scouts. Hopefully I am surviving and no creatures have gotten me lol!

Because of the camping trip I had to do my long run a day early on Friday. I got to run with my friend Paige who I haven't ran with in forever! We had the best time! The run was hard...don't know why we chose a hilly route after we ran that hilly half marathon last weekend...but we did it!

Here's us at our last water stop at mile 7!

The run was hard for me...so slow was what I did! But hey...slow or not...I DID it! :-)

There was one bad thing that happened during our run. I'm not sure how everyone else does it but when we run long runs we drop water on the route so that we can stop and refill our water bottles in our fuel belts. Paige dropped the water today...she said some ladies looked at her funny when she was putting the plastic bag with two waters in it on the ground near the road behind some monkey grass. She told them we were running and we would pick up our bag of water about two hours later. They said ok. Well...guess what happened??? When we made it to the water stop...our bag of water was not there!!! And there was a wet spot on the road where it looked like someone had poured out the water!!! After looking around we saw our bag and the EMPTY water bottles in a recycle bin not far from where we had stashed our water. Are you kidding me??? I have been running and dropping water for almost three years and no one has EVER messed with my water much less poured it out!!! I was furious!!! Paige didn't have her water belt so she had no water at all! And it was hot! I only had a sip left in mine...of course I gave that sip to Paige. But it got me thinking...how can someone be so inconsiderate??? They knew we were coming back to get it. I couldn't believe they would be so mean!!! Has this kind of thing every happened to any of you???

After we finished our run we headed for tennis lessons! Yes...I said tennis lessons! A bunch of my running friends are taking lessons and this was the first week. I used to play tennis in high school but I was horrible at it. I loved it though. So hopefully I can learn to play better!

We had so much fun at the lesson! He taught us about our tennis racket and how to hold it for different playing positions. I had no clue you hold your racket differently for volleys than you do for forearm and backhand! But your hand actually grips the racket in a different place for each of these.

We practiced hitting forearm volleys, backhand volleys, and forearm shots. Then we did an exercise where we hit a forearm shot, ran to the net and hit a forearm volley, and then a backhand volley. Then we had to run up to the net and touch it and run to the back of the line. It was so much fun!!! I can't wait to go back next week!

I learned my Prince tennis racket was an "oldie but a goodie" and if I wanted to continue to play I really need to get a newer racket. Well Mr. Coach...my racket IS 17 years old lol!!! I'll probably use my old racket for the lessons and if I learn to play as well as he says we will then I may invest in a newer one. :-)

QOTD: Do you or have you ever played tennis? Give me some pointers!
