The Weekly Chase...Burpees, Business Cards, and Sale!

For those of you who are wondering....I DID get to run 7 miles yesterday morning!  And the weather was perfect!  The rain brought in a cold front so it was 68 degrees when I was running!!!  Awesome run!

It's time for The Weekly Chase!  If you haven't gone to Melissa's site and checked this out...do it!!!  :-)  It's a post I look forward to writing every week!  And I also love reading your Weekly Chase posts too!

Here are the goals I chased last week:

  • Goal #1: Write my Sweat Pink Blog Swap post.  DONE!!!  I even got it done a day early! :-)
  • Goal #2: Start the Burpee Boom Challenge.  Yep! Yep!!!  I did a total of 115 burpees this week!!!  Yay!
  • Goal #3: Clean out my and the boys' closets. 50% of this got done.  I cleaned out the boys' closets but still have to clean out mine.
So overall...it was a pretty successful week I think!

Here are the goals for this week:

Goal #1: Continue the Burpee Boom Challenge.  The goal is to do 150 burpees this week!  Yikes!!!

Goal #2: Get my business cards and sub info to the schools this week.  I need to go to the schools I want to sub at and put my name on their sub list and give them business cards to hand out to the teachers.

Goal #3: Clean out my closet and get everything priced for the consignment sale.  My friend Stephanie is supposed to help me price everything to sell!  My dining room is a huge mess with all the things I hope to sell! The plan is to hopefully make enough money to be able to pay for Hayden to go to karate.  He wants to take karate so bad but it's super expensive.

So there's my goals!!!  I hope to be 100% successful this week!!!

Don't forget to enter my Bondi Band giveaway!  It ends on Tuesday at midnight CST!

QOTD: What are your goals for the week?

Favorite Olympic Moments

It's been a great 16 days of Olympics! All my other television shows have gone to the back burner while my eyes have been glued to the Olympics every night and sometimes even during the day. I'm going to miss it!

I'm going to recap some of my favorite moments (I probably won't capture them all) of London 2012!

Missy Franklin and her first gold medal!!!  I just love her and all she stands for!  I love that she is swimming for her high school team and is not accepting any endorsements.  She has plenty of time for that!  Amazing!  Her total medal count was 4 gold and 1 bronze!

Michael Phelps! Should I say more?  I am so impressed that he is the most decorated Olympian of all time with 22 medals!!!  Amazing!!!  He says London is his last Olympics...but I really hope he shows up in Rio in 2016!

source
Ryan Lochte and his amazing win over Michael Phelps in the first race in London!  It was amazing to me that Phelps didn't even medal...he came in 4th!

source
The Fab Five! I LOVE Gymnastics and when these girls saw they had won gold I cried right along with them! So awesome since USA hasn't had the gold since 1996!

source
Gabby Douglass and her gold medal win in the All Around Gymnastics Competition! She's 16 years old and the first African American to ever win this competition! I just love everything about her...her contagious smile and this quote from her, "I give all the glory to God. It's kind of a win-win situation. The glory goes up to Him, and all the blessings fall down on me."  Chills!!!!  :-)

source
Aly Raisman and her gold medal for the Gymnastics floor competition!  She ROCKED that routine! Her gold medal was the first for a US woman in this competition!  Awesome!

source
Lashinda Demus and her silver medal win in the 400 m hurdles!  I LOVED hearing her story of coming back to compete after having her twin boys.  And I teared up when they showed this picture of her hugging her twins after winning the 400 m hurdles final at the trials!

source
Usain Bolt and his famous pose!  I know a lot of you think he is pretty arrogant but I loved his energy!  Just like I love seeing the players celebrate in college football I loved seeing Bolt celebrate his victory!

source
Kara Goucher and Shalane Flanagan at the finish line of the Olympic marathon!  Kara finished 11th and Shalane finished 10th...and both were not having great runs.  But they did it!!!  And I LOVE their support of one another!!!

source
Team USA Women's 4x100 meter relay! They broke the world record and secured gold for the USA...the first time since 1996!  I LOVE their huge smiles in this photo!!!

source
Allyson Felix and her gold in the 200 meters!  I just love her!!!!

source
Kerri Walsh Jennings and Misty May-Treanor and their THIRD time winning the Olympic gold in beach volleyball!!!  I love them and am really sad Misty is retiring.

I know I could probably come up with many more of my favorite moments!  I'm so sad the Olympics are over!

No Long Run Today

Well, I woke up to rain and lightning this morning so I had to cancel my 10 miler.  This is how I feel about that:

And I can't run the 10 tomorrow because I have to be at church early in the morning.  So it's rescheduled for next weekend.  I'm going to try to run 5 or 6 miles in the morning before church.  I hate canceling runs!  I get so mentally prepared for my long runs and to cancel them is tough!  But it's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to lightning.

QOTD: Have you ever gotten stuck in a bad weather situation while running?  What did you do?

Fitness Friday!

Happy Fitness Friday! Here's a rundown of my workouts this week!

  • Sunday- #plankaday 2:08
  • Monday- #plankaday 2:21, 1 min. side planks on each side, and 15 burpees for the Burpee Boom Challenge!  It's not too late to join the challenge! ;-)
  • Tuesday- #plankaday 2:12, 1 min. side planks on each side, 15 burpees, and 3 mile treadmill RUN in 31:51 ave. pace 10:37

  • Wednesday- #plankaday 2:32, 1 min. side planks on each side, and 20 burpees
  • Thursday- #plankaday 2:35, 1 min. side planks on each side, 20 burpees and  3.11 mile treadmill RUN in 33:14 ave. pace 10:41

  • Friday- 1 minute #plankaday x 3 , 30 sec. side planks on each side x 3, 15 burpees, and Upper Body Blast
Both my short runs this week were on the treadmill. Tuesday I was just lazy and didn't want to get out of bed to run that morning.  So I opted to run after my hubby got home from work...it's too hot out at 5:30 so the treadmill was the only option.  Thursday the plan was to run after the boys' T-Ball games at 7:30.  I was going to run from the T-Ball field and was so excited for a new route!  But here came a thunderstorm at the end of the games and so I had to head back to the treadmill.  The neat thing was while I was running I was also watching the Olympics track and field events.  Made me feel really slow lol!

So to evaluate: I got my runs in this week even though they were on the treadmill.  I've got my core work in but really need more strength training.  It's tough right now because I can't go to the gym since there isn't any child care.  But once school starts...gym here I come!!!

I wanted to share the workout I did this morning with you from my fellow Sweat Pink sister, Kacie at Savvy Sassy Me!  This was an awesome workout because I could do it from home with just dumbbells!  Thanks Kacie!

This is one of those workouts that I pinned on Pinterest so I can do it again and again!  I LOVE pinning new workouts!!!

Tomorrow I'm running 10 miles with the Sole2Soul Sisters!  This will be their first double digit run!  I love feeling their excitement!!!

QOTD: Did you do a great workout this week? Share it with me in the comments!  I would love to try it and pin it!  :-)

Things Are About to Change...

With school starting back up in 11 days (yes I'm counting) things are about to change around here.  Do I like change?  Sometimes.  Sometimes not.  Change can be scary.  Change can be good.  Change can be something that you know needs to happen but may not always want to happen.

One change...my baby is starting Kindergarten!  I still see him as this always smiling "baby Sawyer!"

But he has grown into such a sweet boy with the most awesome personality!  You can't help but smile and laugh every time you are around him!

With both my kids in school it will be very different around here.  See....I have ALWAYS been with them from the time they were born.  I was a stay at home mom until my oldest Hayden was two and Sawyer was three months old.  Then I worked at my church's preschool...and the kids went with me.  So they were always in my sight.  It was super hard when Hayden went to Kindergarten because I didn't know what he was doing for 7 hours, if anyone was being mean to him, how he was feeling, if he was hungry, etc. And now I'm going to face that with Sawyer too.  Man it's hard to be a mom!!!  :-)

On the positive side...I'm looking forward to having some time to myself!  I'm looking forward to going grocery shopping without two little kids.  I'm looking forward to having more time to go to the gym (it's hard now because my gym doesn't have childcare).  I'm looking forward to having lunch dates with friends without two kids in tow!

Another change I'm facing is a job change.  I went to college to be a teacher.  I taught third grade for two years before I quit to start my family.  After the boys were born....I focused on them.  I chose a job where they could come with me.  Luckily, that job was still in my career field...I still got to teach.  But now that they are going to both be in school...I am ready to focus a little more on me.  I'm ready to start my career again.  I'm ready to be an elementary school teacher again.  But it's not easy to be a teacher in my county.  There aren't a lot of teaching jobs out there.  So I'm going to start by substitute teaching.  That way I can get my foot in the door and get to know some of the principals so that one day when a teacher position becomes available, hopefully I will have a better chance of getting the job.  I've also got to work on getting my teaching certificate renewed in my state.  And they are not making it easy for me...I'm going to have to take three standardized tests and maybe even some college courses.  So this year is going to be about renewing my certificate as well as subbing to network.

And...I will admit that I am a little scared!  I'm worried that I won't get enough subbing jobs to help pay the bills.  I'm worried I won't have the extra money for tests and college courses.  But I'm going to put my trust in God because I believe that He has lead me in this direction and He will provide.

QOTD: Do you have any big changes happening in your life?  How do you deal with change?

Bondi Band Review and Giveaway!!!

It's no secret that I like to look cute when I'm running!  That's why I run in a skirt and always have something cute in my hair!  One of my most favorite products is Bondi Bands!

They look cute when you're just hanging out!

Or when you are running!

But the BEST thing about Bondi Bands (in my opinion) is their wicking capability.  I live in the south and it gets really hot here in the summer.  I need something that will keep the sweat out of my eyes.  Bondi Bands do this perfectly!  When everyone else is wiping sweat out of their eyes (and you know how bad that burns) I am perfectly happy because my Bondi Band has collected all the sweat and kept it from running down my forehead into my eyes.  That's why they say their Bondi Bands are "No Slip, No Drip."  It's really true...they collect all the sweat and they don't slip on your head!  Plus...they are super cute and fun!!!

Here are a few facts about Bondi Band:
  • Their products are unisex. My hubby actually borrows mine when he does P90X workouts!
  • They are 100% American made.  I love this because so many things are not made in America anymore.
  • They can be worn on their own or under other hats, helmets, and visors.
  • They are made of stretchy, breathable material which allows them to fit virtually every head size and shape.
  • Their fashion lycra fabric is fun and perfect for every day.  I've also worn these while running..they still wick the sweat away!
  • In warm weather the "No Slip, No Drip" moisture wicking headbands are great to wick away sweat, keep hair back, and keep ear buds in ears.
  • In colder weather, they are great to keep your ears warm.  I always wear my Bondi Bands covering my ears in the winter!
  • Bondi Band donates 10% of pretax profits to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.  How awesome is that???
  • In addition to the headbands they offer armbands, wristbands, wicking hats, wicking ponytail hats, wicking pigtail hats, wicking neck gators, wicking sweat towels, and even items for your children and dogs!!!
  • They offer customized products.  With every Sole2Soul Sisters group that we train...we order Bondi Bands customized with our copyrighted logo!

So who wants some Bondi Bands?  Kelly at BondiBand was kind enough to send me TWO of these awesome headbands to give to YOU!  One of them is made of the lycra material and the other is made of the wicking material.  They are both SUPER cute!
