Fitness Friday...May 8th Edition!

Whew! It's been a busy week! At work this week I was busy getting my preschoolers ready to graduate! We had lots of graduation practices. I'm happy to say that they all graduated last night! What a sweet sweet time in their lives! And yes...I will admit that I got teary eyed! I love those sweet kids and am going to miss them so much!

Tuesday, Sawyer and I also had a little mini date while Hayden was at art class. It started with Starbucks (half price frappuccinos until May 10th...woohoo) of course!

Then we went to the pier and Sawyer finished his homework. And then we took a walk! I love when I get to spend one on one time with my boys!

Hayden also finished his painting of the Golden Gate Bridge during art class. I think he did an amazing job!

Since it was also Cinco de Mayo we had dinner at Moe's Southwest Grill. And....I got a free t-shirt! :-)

This week my Easter lilies finally decided to bloom! I was so happy to see them! They are beautiful! I made sure not to get too close though since I have a black thumb! ;-)

On Wednesday afternoon the boys and I met Jenny and her children at Starbucks for frappuccino happy hour! I may be getting a little addicted to those half price frapps! Not sure what I'm going to do when I have to pay full price again lol!

Now it's time for Fitness Friday! I had some great runs this week! The streak is still going strong...I'm so close to a year!

  • Friday- #plankaday 1:15, 1.60 mile run in 13:47 average pace 8:37

  • Sunday- 2.26 mile run in 18:35 average pace 8:12
  • Monday- #plankaday 1:31, 1.76 mile run in 14:57 average pace 8:30

  • Tuesday- #plankaday 1:06, 2.06 mile run in 17:12 average pace 8:21

  • Wednesday- #plankaday 1:16, 2.06 mile run in 16:51 average pace 8:11

My runs were great this week! My hip has gotten so much better and I'm praying it continues to do so.

This weekend I plan on running 5-6 miles for my long run. Then we have Sawyer's gymnastics banquet on Saturday. And then Mother's Day on Sunday.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! And for the mothers out there....have an amazing day celebrating YOU and all the hard work you do every single day!

So remember a few weekends ago when I ran the Log Off Shut Down Go Run virtual race by GoneForARun.com? Well...they've done it again! They are hosting another virtual race!

This time they are hosting a 5 mile virtual race called the Bad Ass Runner Virtual 5 Mile Race! The race will be held May 29th- May 31st. The great thing about a virtual race...you can run it anywhere and at any time! It just has to be during those dates. And you can pick your own course to run! Pretty sweet!

And we all want to know about the race swag right? Included in your entry fee is a race bib (no printed ones...these are on the same paper as the bibs at real races), a car magnet, a shirt, and a medal!

You must register by May 19th in order to receive your race packet in time!

Once you complete your race...share it with the world! Post it on the GoneForARun Facebook page and be entered in the raffle for prizes!

Raffle prizes include the following best selling GoneForaRun items, all featuring original Bad Ass Runner artwork:
1) BibFOLIO: The Original Race Bib Album
2) Hooked On Medals Medal Hanger

This race comes at the perfect time since we are all starting to feel that summer heat. You have to be a Bad A$$ runner to run in the heat and humidity here on the Gulf Coast for sure!

Fiesta 10K Recap!

Saturday was the last race of the season for me. It is getting too hot for racing now here on the Gulf Coast. So I was really looking forward to this race! I ran the 5K part of this race years ago but have never run the 10K. I was excited to run in my hometown again AND run a new course!

We had to wake up pretty early for this one since it's about an hour commute to get there. I met my friends at our meeting spot and off we went!

We arrived at the finish line area around 6:15. We had to take a shuttle bus to the start line. There was no wait for a bus which was really nice.

I was really excited to run another race with my friend Jenny! We've run two races together but this would be the first time we actually started together. The last two times we found each other on the course and then ran the rest together.

We knew the course was going to be hilly so we didn't really have any goals in mind. We wanted to come as close to our previous PR as possible. But we knew it was going to be hot and hilly and would be happy to finish with a smile on our faces!

I'm so lucky to have so many friends that love to run as much as I do!!!

The shuttle ride didn't take too long and then we were at Pensacola State College where the start line was. We had about 30 minutes until the race began. We found a few friends and then before long it was time to get going!

Jenny and I started running and we were feeling great! Since this race didn't have corrals we just jumped in where we thought we should be. But...we should have moved closer to the start line. We had to dodge several people within that first mile.

Around mile 1.5 we came to the first hill. It was pretty steep but we pushed through and made it! Then we turned onto a road that reminded me of Mobile, AL. The road was covered with oak tree branches...so gorgeous! (Sorry the picture is blurry...but it's hard to get a picture in focus when you are running! Thanks for taking the picture Jenny!)

The rest of the race just kind of flew by as Jenny and I did what we do best when we are together...talk! We had so much fun!!!

We had a few more inclines and then between mile 5 and 6 we had an overpass to climb. But we didn't back down and kept on running. Both Jenny and I said we were having a hard time breathing. It was hard to recover from those hills. But we are both so competitive and would slow down...only to speed right back up in less than a minute lol!

Finally...we made it to the finish line!!! We did it! Our official finish time was 53:43...about 2 minutes shy of a PR for me. But I was super happy with that time considering the hilly route!

We came through the finish line shute and there was Jenny's husband Eric. He had a great race and even PRed! (Yeah he's fast and came in about 10 minutes ahead of us)

Then it was time to find some food! This race had so much to offer! There was pizza (you think I ate that don't you? Nope...I usually only eat pizza the night before the race), bananas, donuts, salad, sandwich wraps, and probably more food that we didn't even see! It was a great after party!

Jenny and I headed straight for the chocolate donuts!!! So yummy!

Oh yeah...we totally run for donuts!!!

After watching Eric eat and eat (lol) we found the rest of our friends. Every one seemed to have had a good race!

Funny story....Jenny and her husband's bib numbers were numbers 1 and 2! Pretty awesome! I so felt like I was running with elites!

And every time I see this picture I crack up laughing! We have so much fun!!!!

Before long it was time to head out. We told Jenny and Eric goodbye and then me and the rest of the girls headed to Pensacola Beach! I was so excited to spend girl time on the beach!

But first things first...Starbucks Coffee of course! I totally earned the big one!

We made it to the beach in no time. The water was absolutely gorgeous! We had a blast relaxing in the sun!

It was an amazing day! I did several of my favorite things...running, racing, spending time with friends, and relaxing at the beach! :-)

QOTD: Do you race in the summer? Or is it too hot?

The Weekly Chase #121!

I hope everyone had a good weekend! I sure did! It started Friday afternoon when I met my friend Jenny and her daughter Lily at Starbucks for afternoon coffee! Bonus...the frappucinos are half price May 1-10 from 3-5 PM! Score! Jenny also gave me our race packets for the next morning. It was so sweet of her to pick up everyone's for them!

After coffee I headed to Donna's house to meet Donna, Paige, and Susanne. We had our pre-race dinner of pizza (of course) and then we had a spa night! We did our toes and had great girl time!

Saturday morning it was time to run the Fiesta 10K! I'll have a recap up for you on Wednesday!

After the race we went to Pensacola Beach! It was a fun girls day!

Sunday was a lazy day around the house. I needed the down time after such a busy start to the weekend.

Now it's time for the Weekly Chase! It's a new week and I have new goals to achieve! I hope you will link up your own goals with me too! And feel free to use the badge below in your post too! You can grab the badge HERE! :-)

Road Runner Girl

Here are my goals from last week!

  • Goal #1: Run every day! Yes! The streak is still going strong! I'm almost to my year long goal!
  • Goal #2: Roll, stretch, and ice daily. Yes! The hip is feeling much better. I can still feel a little bit of soreness in it but it is so much better than it was.
  • Goal #3: Maintain my weight by logging my calories. I've done pretty well this week. There are a few days I missed logging my dinner. But I knew I had enough calories for what I ate based on the rest of the day.
  • Goal #4: Finish t-shirts for preschool graduation. Yes! Whew! These are done! Graduation is Thursday night!!!
  • Goal #5: Take one more professional development class. Yes! All done! Yay!
  • Goal #6: Start working on preschool memory books. No. :-( I DID get all my pictures printed this past week. But I haven't starting putting everything together. That's on the agenda for this week for sure!

Here are my goals to work on this week!

Goal #1: Run every day! There's no stopping me now! I'm so close to a year!

Goal #2: Roll, stretch, and ice daily. So important to keeping my body healthy as a streaker and runner in general.

Goal #3: Maintain my weight by logging my calories. I plan to log EVERY meal this week. :-)

Goal #4: Start working on preschool memory books. I'm feeling very overwhelmed by this task. I know they will be awesome when I get them done.

The end of the school year is a super busy time for me. So I'm not focusing on too much this week. My main goal is to get those memory books mostly complete. Please understand if I don't get as many blog posts up this week. Summer is almost here and I'll be back on schedule I promise!

I hope you all have a great week reaching your goals!

QOTD: What goals are you working toward this week?

Fitness Friday...May 1st Edition!

Oh my goodness...it's already May!!! I can't believe it!

It was another busy week! On Tuesday, Sawyer and I went down to the pier while Hayden was in his art class. Sawyer did his homework by the bay. And then we took a walk. We had so much fun spending quality time together just the two of us. And we saw tons of wildlife. I love living here on the Gulf Coast!

After our walk we went to the coffee shop and met my sister Christy and Ella there!

I needed afternoon coffee several times this week.

Because working in a preschool at times can be hard! (Explanation: this was in the two year old class where the teacher was changing a nasty diaper. I just couldn't deal with the nastiness. And I refuse to get sick!)

But I promise....it was a good week! ;-)

Now it's time for Fitness Friday! I had a great week of runs this week. I even made streak day 340 on Wednesday...which means only 25 days until I reach one year of run streaking!!!

  • Friday- #plankaday 1:05, 1.70 mile run in 14:14 average pace 8:22

  • Sunday- 2.51 mile run in 20:52 average pace 8:19
  • Monday- #plankaday 1:05, 1.67 mile run in 13:59 average pace 8:22

  • Tuesday- #plankaday 1:30, 2.06 mile run in 16:55 average pace 8:12

  • Wednesday- #plankaday 1:05, 1.76 mile run in 14:27 average pace 8:12

  • Thursday- #plankaday 1:10, 1.66 mile run in 13:53 average pace 8:22

My runs were great this week! I can't believe I'm so close to a year in my running streak!

This weekend I am running my last race of the season...the Fiesta Five Flags 10K in Pensacola. The route is hilly so I'm not sure how I will do. But I'm running it with my friend Jenny so I know we will have a blast! :-)

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Happy running!
