WIAW...New Orleans Style!

I've never done a "What I Ate Wednesday" post but Sarah did it and I loved her idea so I'm doing it too! ;-)

I thought it would be fun to show you all the yummy things I ate while I was in New Orleans for the Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon! Enjoy...and I hope you're not too hungry while reading this! ;-)

Friday night after I arrived, we  headed to the French Quarter to eat dinner. On the way we passed through a mini Mardi Gras parade! We all got a few beads thrown at us! Fun! We ended up eating at Cafe Maspero. I got the catfish sandwich...so yummy! I ended up only eating the catfish and a few of the fries. I just wasn't in the mood for the bread but it was cheaper to get the catfish in the sandwich form.

I forgot to take a picture so this one is from their website

Saturday was started with the free breakfast at our hotel. I will tell you that this is the BEST breakfast spread I have ever had at a hotel! Yum!

After the Tweet Up at the Expo we were hungry for lunch. Per the recommendation of one of the locals we headed to Clover Grill on Bourbon Street where they were known to have the world's best hamburgers. And...I believe it WAS one of the best hamburgers I've ever eaten...or I was really hungry! Sorry for the half eaten picture! ;-)

And I really enjoyed reading the menu! Hilarious!!!

Pre-race fueling was done at one of my favorite New Orleans restaurants...Louisiana Pizza Kitchen! (Big surprise I know!)

Sunday after the race, Holly and I went to the hotel bar and ordered a few appetizers to share. We were starving! They were having a wings special since it was Superbowl Sunday. And we also got the Spinach and Artichoke Dip which was divine!

That night we celebrated our race with dinner at Red Fish Grill on Bourbon Street. I got Shrimp and Grits...AMAZING!

If you love food, New Orleans is a great place to come! They have some of the best restaurants in the south! One thing I missed this trip...beignets! Sarah and Abby are on a gluten free diet so I didn't want to tempt them with beignets. Next trip beignets will be first on the list!

QOTD: Have you ever been to New Orleans? What was your favorite place to eat?
