Fitness Friday...VBS Week!

This has been a busy week! I've been teaching at Vacation Bible School every night and boy am I tired! But I LOVE it! I look forward to this week every summer...and so do my boys! This was my third year teaching with my friend Paige! We have been teaching the same group of kids since they were in kindergarten! Both her son and my son Hayden are in our class. It has been so awesome to see these kids grow in their relationship with God each year! Wednesday night was the most important night of the week...it was the night when we talk about accepting Christ. We had 5 children in our class that became saved that night! And I had the blessing and privilege to pray the sinner's prayer with one of the boys in my class. It was AMAZING and an experience I will never forget! How awesome to see these children accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior! And then to see their excitement over their decision...WOW!

It has been an awesome week! So much fun! And I will be singing these songs for a long time! Colossal Cooooooaaaaster Wooorrrld! You'll understand if you've done this theme in VBS! ;-)

Me and Paige...and yes we like to dress silly...we have on Bondi Bands and crazy knee high socks!

Me and my sweet Hayden!

Just look how many children! Awesome!

It's time for another Fitness Friday! I'm ready to tell you how my runs went this week!

  • Saturday- 1 mile run in 9:07
  • Sunday- #plankaday- 1:03, 1 mile run in 8:44

  • Monday- #plankaday- 1:00, 1 mile run in 8:49

  • Tuesday- #plankaday- 1:10, 3.11 mile run in 30:08 average pace 9:42

  • Wednesday- #plankaday- 1:02, 1 mile run in 8:57

  • Thursday- #plankaday- 1:31, 3.11 mile run in 30:06 average pace 9:41

  • Friday- #plankaday- 1:00, 1 mile run

It felt great getting back into the routine this week! I am thankful for running on vacation last week but I missed running more than 1 mile. I'm glad I got in two 5K's this week...despite being worn out from VBS! I made myself wake up early and run...and I didn't regret it! This weekend I plan on running a 5 miler at some point! We are also going to see Monsters University on Saturday! I can't wait after seeing so many things at Disney about it!!! :-)

The Weekly Chase #26!

Hey everyone! I had an absolutely fabulous vacation! I can't wait to tell you all about it! We got home late Saturday night and reality is starting to sink in. I took over 670 pictures this past week so I have a lot to sort through and determine which ones to share with you...I won't make you look at all 670 I promise! ;-) Here's one of my favorites that I decided to share today!

It's time for the Weekly Chase! I am excited about a new week and getting back into my goals. I didn't abandon all my goals while on vacation but I limited them. I can't wait to get back to it! I hope you will join us this week too!

Road Runner Girl

This month's challenge is called "Move Your Body!" It's summertime and I don't want us to forget about our fitness goals. This month I want you to be specific and make one of your goals a fitness goal. Your goal could be to run 3 times a week, strength or weight train twice a week, go for a walk everyday, or do at least 15 minutes of exercise each day. Whatever you want...just make it all about moving your body!

Here are the goals I had last week while on vacation:
  • Goal #1: Run at least one mile every day (challenge goal). YES!!!!! I am so excited that I can say a big fat yes to this one! I wasn't sure how I was going to do running every day while on vacation but I actually looked forward to it every day! It was great starting out the day with a run. And I really enjoyed running somewhere new! I got to see tons of ducks by the ponds on the property I was staying at. Let me tell you...those ducks are NOT afraid of you! They wouldn't share the sidewalk with me at all lol!
  • Goal #2: Stretch and roll every day. Yes! I stretched before and after every run! And I rolled before every run. I should have rolled after but I only did that a few times.
  • Goal #3: Have fun! Definitely! We had so much fun! Everyone stayed hydrated in the heat and all my crew stayed healthy. Unfortunately one of my friend Stephanie's kids got sick one of the days but we didn't let it stop us. We just loaded up her other two kids with us and took them to Epcot so they wouldn't miss out. I hate Stephanie and Mason missed Epcot but luckily he was feeling much better the next day. My mother-in-law hurt her back on Space Mountain the first day but she was a trooper and still rode every ride with us!

So here are this week's goals!

Goal #1: Run at least one mile every day (challenge goal). I am still streaking! I can't believe there are only 10 days left to the Runner's World Run Streak! It has flown by!

Goal #2: Stretch and roll every day. I really think this is helping me stay injury free during the streak. And...the awesome Zensah compression socks that I won from Karen at Just Me and My Running Shoes were GREAT for traveling to and from Disney! They made my legs feel great! Before we left I had some slight shin pain in my left leg...but after wearing these compression socks during the 8 hour drive the shin pain was completely gone...and hasn't come back! Yay!

Goal #3: To show the love of Christ at Vacation Bible School. I LOVE teaching at Vacation Bible School every summer! Me and my friend Paige have been teaching together the past two years...and we have been teaching the same group of children. My oldest son Hayden is in my class and it's so awesome to share the experience with him each year. It's going to be a very busy week but it's worth it! Even if just one child gets saved!

Goal #4: Unpack! We are home and it's time to unpack everything from our vacation. I got some of it done yesterday but hope to get the rest done today and tomorrow!

That's it for this week! It's going to be a week of busy and late nights due to VBS. But it will be fun!

QOTD: What are your goals for this week?

Plank a day- 1:50

Today was another long run with the Sole2Soul Sisters half marathon training group!  These ladies are seriously ROCKING these long runs!  I'm sooo proud of them!  I wasn't sure how this run was going to go for me.  I've had late nights every night this week due to teaching at my church's Vacation Bible School.  So I assumed I would be super tired and the run would be tough.  I was wrong!  This run was AWESOME!!!  I felt great the entire run, the weather was nice (overcast with a few sprinkles), and it was a great route!  Can anyone say "runner's high?"  LOVE when that happens!!!

And guess what???  One of my Sole2Soul Sisters, Holly at Running and Baking, Oh My!, was accepted as a Sweat Pink Ambassador!!!  I'm so excited for her!!!  I have LOVED being a Sweat Pink Ambassador and am excited to have a sweat pink sister close to me!  Congrats Holly!!!!

Here's a picture of me and Holly after our 8 miles this morning!  #SweatPink!

If you follow me on Instagram then you have already seen all these pictures...but I wanted to share with you what I've been doing all week...Vacation Bible School!  The theme this year was "Amazing Wonders Aviation."  Me and one of my best friends, Paige, taught the 1st graders together.  It was special to me because MY first grader, Hayden, was in my class!  It was an exhausting but absolutely AMAZING week!  We had a total of 14 kids get saved and 5 of those were in my class!!!!  So awesome!  I hope you enjoy the pictures of my busy week!!!

Me and Paige...best teacher partner EVER!!!

Us with our youth helper JT!  We made an awesome team!

Our sweet class having fun in Bible Study!

My sweet babies Hayden and Sawyer!!!  They had sooo much fun at VBS!

Hayden performing!

We had a total of 19 first graders in our class!  Each one of them were sooo awesome!  I really enjoyed spending the week with them!  Today I'm going to be resting up...and trying to get all the VBS songs out of my head lol!

QOTD: What are your plans for the weekend?  Today is a relax and catch up on laundry day for me.  Tomorrow we have church and then a birthday party to go to!

GYM Time!!!

Workout Stats-
Plank a day- 1:36
Recumbent Bike- 35 minutes
Strength Training- Lunges, Squats, Leg Extensions, Leg Press, Leg Curls, and Hip Abductors/Adductors

I went to the GYM!!!  To actually work out and not run on the treadmill!!!  This is a first for me in YEARS!!!  My hubby bought us a gym membership at Christmas time to Anytime Fitness....he uses it but I've only used it to run on the treadmill when I can't run outside.  So one of my goals this week for the Weekly Chase is to do strength training twice this week.  I did strength training for my arms using free weights here at home on Thursday.  I knew I wanted to do some strength training for my legs so I planned to go to the gym this afternoon.  The only downside to our gym is there is no child care so that limits the times I can go.  I think Sunday afternoons are going to be one of the scheduled times for me...because I had the gym ALL to myself the first 45 minutes!!!  Whoop! So of course I took advantage of that opportunity and took a picture of myself when no one was around to laugh at me!

I did some cross training on the recumbent bike.  I haven't been on one of those in years!  My goal was to ride about 30 minutes.  I rode 35 because I was watching Wimbledon on the TV and I had to see Serena Williams win!

After the bike, people starting filing into the gym.  And I started with my leg work.  All I can say is that I'm going to be sore tomorrow!  Hopefully I didn't overdo it...I tried to take it slow.  But it will be worth it to be a healthier me!!!

This next week is going to be super busy for me.  I am teaching 1st graders at our church's Vacation Bible School along with juggling summer school and T-Ball games!  I love VBS week but it always poses challenges for me...resisting all the yummy food and getting in my runs/workouts because I'm so tired.  I'm going to try to be strong and get it all done!!!

QOTD: What is your favorite machine to use at the gym?  Let me know in the comments below!  I need some gym motivation!  I'll have to say the treadmill is my favorite..no surprise huh?!
