Runner Spotlights #69

Hey everyone! I hope you are all having a great weekend! It's been super cold here...but no snow like I know a lot of you are dealing with. I'm thankful I live on the Gulf Coast right now!

Now it's time for another runner favorite time of the week! I love reading other runners' stories about their running journey! If you are interested in being spotlighted on my blog please email me at! I'd love to spotlight you! You don't have to have a blog to be just have to be a runner! ;-)

Today I'm spotlighting Lynette from Life's Better in Yoga Pants! This girl has an amazing story! And when she admitted she eats more pizza than a healthy person should...I knew we could be besties! ;-) Keep reading to learn more about her!

When and why did you start running?
I started running in 2011 after I recovered from being hit by a car. I was taking advantage of the fact that I had the ability to run and was trying to save money by not going to the gym. It also gave me something to do. I grew up playing sports and stopped after my first year of college.

What is your favorite race and race distance?
My favorite race is still the RUN10FEED10. I’ve done it twice and loved it both times. You run up and down the West Side Highway and then get to enjoy the festival for a few hours. My favorite race distance so far is the 5K because I get to see my speed training pay off. I’m usually less reserved when racing that distance.

What is your race day routine?
Race day routine is wake up, make a waffle with peanut butter and banana, eat, get dressed, go to the bathroom and leave. I usually know exactly what I’m wearing the night before and pack my backpack. When I get to the race, I check my stuff and listen to some pump me up music while waiting to start.

What is your most favorite piece of running gear?
My Reebok capris. They fit me so perfectly and are so comfortable to run in. They even match my new pink and black sneakers!

Do you follow any diet or take any specific supplements that complement your running?
No. I try and eat healthy but I don’t deprive myself. I have never, nor do I plan to, take any training supplements.

What do you wish you’d known when you first started running?
I wish I knew how much I enjoyed it because I would have started earlier!

What is your fondest running memory?
Finishing my first half marathon in DC. The experience was unlike anything I have experienced- and I am a former baton twirler who has competed in front of thousands. It was great to be with my new running friends too.

What is one thing that most people do not know about you?
I eat more pizza than someone who considers themselves healthy should.
