Runner Spotlights #62

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you are all having a great weekend! Ours has been very relaxing. The weather has been rainy so we haven't gotten out much. But it's been nice to just take it easy this weekend.

It's time for another runner spotlight...my favorite time of the week! I love reading other runners' stories about their running journey! If you are interested in being spotlighted on my blog please email me at mindy@roadrunnergirl.com! I'd love to spotlight you! You don't have to have a blog to be spotlighted...you just have to be a runner! ;-)

Today I'm spotlighting Jessie from It's A Messy Life! This Nevada girl loves to run obstacle races...something I haven't ventured out and tried. Keep reading to learn more about her!

Name: Jessie Emeric
State: Nevada

When and why did you start running?
I’m still fairly new at running. I started October of 2012 mostly to help me lose weight.

What is your favorite race and race distance?
I love obstacle course racing! My favorite is Tough Mudder, which is about 10 miles.

What is your race day routine?
I like to set out my clothes, shoes, etc. the night before so I am ready to go first thing in the morning. I must have coffee, a light breakfast, and of course, a selfie before the start :)

What is your most favorite piece of running gear?
Is music considered running gear? A great playlist really helps me! Other than that, I love my new Lululemon groovy run shorts. They’re roomy around my thighs, have great flexibility, and aren’t too short.

Do you follow any diet or take any specific supplements that complement your running?
I like to say I’m 80% Paleo, meaning I mostly follow the paleo diet, but I do allow myself some cheat meals here & there. Lately, I’ve been using Island Boost energy fuel during my long runs.

What do you wish you’d known when you first started running?
That it’s important to get fitted for a great pair of running sneakers. Good running shoes will make a huge difference on how you run.

What is your fondest running memory?
My first “runner’s high”! I woke up early for a 6 mile run and wasn’t too excited about it, but I went anyways. It was a cloudy morning and around mile 4, it started drizzling, which is a pretty big deal in Vegas! The rain & cool weather just made me feel like I could run forever and I think was even smiling by the end of my run! I just felt so good the rest of the day too.

What is one thing that most people do not know about you?
I’m a pretty open book, but I guess most people don’t know what a bad dancer I am. Like, for real. I can not dance. Anyone who’s seen my try, will agree I have no rhythm!

Here are all the different ways you can connect with Jessie!

Thanks so much for sharing with us Jessie!
