Runner Spotlights #4

It's been a busy but fun weekend! Friday was my sister-in-law Katie's birthday so we went out to dinner with the family and then all the girls went shopping!

My beautiful sister-in-law...the birthday girl!

Saturday I ran 12 miles, had a family dinner to go to an hour away, and then went to the coffee shop for some hangout time with my sister Christy!

The boys outside the restaurant where we ate...the view was gorgeous of the water...but you can't see the water in this picture! :-(

Me with my awesome mother-in-law!!!

Today, I plan on getting some laundry done after church and then I have choir rehearsal tonight. Whew! Busy but I love it!!!

It's time for Runner Spotlights! I love learning more about you! If you would like to be spotlighted send me an email at mindy@roadrunnergirl.com

When and why did you start running? I started running about 10 years ago to lose a few extra pounds.  I have no idea it would turn into a lifestyle.

What is your favorite race and race distance? I love 10Ks.  The distance is short enough that I can really push my pace without feeling like I might die at the end.

What is your race day routine?  Up early, two bananas, four cups of coffee (don’t judge), and the bathroom.   What? Didn’t you know? Bathroom talk is always socially acceptable among runners.

What is your most favorite piece of running gear? I love my compression sleeves.  I wouldn’t run a race without them, but I also don’t know what I would do without my SPI belt.

Do you follow any diet or take any specific supplements that complement your running? I just try to eat whole natural foods, enjoy plenty of protein and avoid artificial ingredients.

What do you wish you’d known when you first started running? It gets easier.  Relax and Enjoy.  This is Fun!

What is your fondest running memory?  My fondest running memory is my trip to Huntington Beach, CA this year with my best friend to run the Surf City half marathon.  It was my first destination race and it was a blast!

What is one thing that most people do not know about you? I love to listen to music on vinyl.  I prefer it over MP3s, except when I am running because the record player would skip out there on the street.   I haven’t bought a CD since 2006.  I buy all new music on vinyl and pray it comes with a MP3 download for running and my car.
