Runner Spotlights #10

Sorry I wasn't around yesterday...I didn't do a post or get on twitter or Facebook much. We were having a family fun day! We went to the corn maze and to a movie. We had a blast! I will write a post about it this week with lots of pictures I promise! ;-) For now I will leave you with this one of my two favorite little men!

It's time for another Runner Spotlight!!! I love learning about other runners! If you would like to be spotlighted on my blog send me an email at mindy@roadrunnergirl.com! I'd love to spotlight you!!!

Today I am spotlighting Josephine from Plant Based Runner! I am so impressed with how this girl eats!!! I am learning lots from her! Keep reading to find out more about Josephine!

Name: Josephine
State: New York

When and why did you start running? I started running (again - I ran in college for fun) in late 2009 because I remembered how much I use to enjoy running and for a little for my health. About 6 months later I found out about race bling and started running more.

What is your favorite race and race distance? I love the 10k distance, its just enough of a challenge without being too much of a challenge for me. I have only run about 6 races so I can’t comment on a favorite yet.

What is your race day routine? Wake up early, freak out, eat something, freak out, get dressed, freak out, drive to race, freak out, run, freak out mid run, finish race then drink a latte and eat good food.

What is your most favorite piece of running gear? My favorite piece of running gear is my Brooks Pure Flow sneakers.

Do you follow any diet or take any specific supplements that complement your running? I eat plant based, that means mostly fruits, veggies, nuts, beans and whole grains and keeps me healthy and energized thus able to run more and recover quicker. I also usually have a post run/workout protein smoothie to help with recovery.

What do you wish you’d known when you first started running? I wish I would have known about medals sooner. I would have run so many more races if I hadn't thought only full marathons gave them out.

What is your fondest running memory? My fondest running memory is (and probably will be for a while) crossing the finish line at my first Half Marathon, the NYC Half.

What is one thing that most people do not know about you? I was almost crushed by an ATV while shooting a documentary (for college) in Costa Rica.

Here are all the different ways you can connect with Josephine!

Thanks so much for sharing with us Josephine!!!

QOTD: What is your favorite Fall activity?
