Runner Spotlights #22

This weekend has been pretty relaxing. Since I am still in marathon recovery mode I got to sleep in on Saturday morning and it was soooo nice! Next week I will be back to early morning weekend long runs so I definitely enjoyed it!

It's time for another runner spotlight! If you are interested in being spotlighted please email me at mindy@roadrunnergirl.com! I'd love to spotlight you!

Today I am spotlighting Jenna from Crazy Healthy Fit! She is a runDisney fan like me! Keep reading to learn more about her!

Name: Jenna Beil
State: Pennsylvania

When and why did you start running? I started running in 2006 when I began College in order to stay in shape. I started competing in road races in 2009, after transferring colleges and becoming friends with other runners.

What is your favorite race and race distance? My favorite race distance is a half marathon. My favorite race is the Walt Disney World Half Marathon. I run this race every single year. My grandparents live in Orlando, Florida so it's also an excuse to go visit them ;-)

What is your race day routine? On race day, I wake up about 1.5-2 hours before leaving the house and turn on my Keurig. As my Keurig warms up, I put two pieces of whole wheat or ezekiel bread into the toaster. I sip on my coffee while eating toast with peanut butter or almond butter. When my coffee is finished, I pour myself a small glass of orange juice. After the orange juice, I fill a glass of water and take small sips of water while stretching until it is time to change and head out the door!

What is your most favorite piece of running gear? My Garmin :-)

Do you follow any diet or take any specific supplements that complement your running? On training days, I'll drink whey protein powder pre- and post-run with almond milk. Lately, I've been drinking a recovery shake called Shakeology after my long runs, but I still put some whey protein powder into my shake.

What do you wish you'd known when you first started running? The importance of nutrition. (pre-, during, and post-run nutrition)

What is your fondest running memory? Training and completing the Philadelphia Marathon in November 2011 with my good friend Abby!

What is one thing that most people do not know about you? I danced for 14 years as a child (tap, ballet, jazz, and hip hop)

Here are all the ways you can connect with Jenna!
