Since the 4th of July was on a Friday this year I thought it would be fun to run my long run on that day instead of the weekend. Plus I knew we would be up late watching fireworks and then driving home from my friend Rhonda's house and I wouldn't want to get up early to get in that long run. AND....I wanted to be able to indulge a little in that 4th of July Cook Out! ;-)
So a Fourth of July 10K sounded perfect! My friend Holly came to run with me! It was so great to see her! I haven't seen her all summer long and have really missed our runs together! We also wore cute 4th of July running outfits (it's all about the outfit you know)!
Holly is doing some low heart rate training and needed to watch her heart rate so we planned on running this run a little slower than normal.
Since we hadn't seen each other in so long we had so much to talk about! Or...I guess I had more to talk about because Holly wanted to know all about my trip to California. So again....I talked the entire 6.2 miles lol!
The run went by fast for me since I was talking so much. A different route also helped the run pass by too!
In the end we had a pretty good pace! It wasn't too much slower than what I had been running on long run days. Oops! Sorry Holly! I really tried to slow down lol! She seemed ok with our pace though...her heart rate didn't get too high so that was good.
I had so much fun running this run with Holly! It was so great catching up! And with a 10K done I didn't feel bad about that tiny piece of cheesecake I had later that day! ;-)
I've worn this same running outfit the past 2 years for the 4th of July. Just for fun....I did a comparison of last year and this year. Can you tell I've lost weight? :-)
QOTD: Do you like to run long on holidays to help you afford the extra calories you will be eating that day?
